Falling Rainbow…!!

I’ve always dreamed of roaming around in India and being able to see some spiritual and sacred places… I should say that’s the ‘only’ ambition I’ve had till now… if someone would ask me what’s mine… Luckily till now no one ever asked, I ‘m always the one who needs to mention… lol
To show off…? Or… to say repeatedly so I can keep the thought stronger I really don’t know…
What I’m trying to say is, I decided this trip is a kind of trail to check my ambition… I still have no idea what I’m going to write about it… maybe how I felt or giving my personal impression about all the places… or maybe for those who want to go see those places or want to know how it feels after having been there…
A very long road trip… you can only experience the feeling if you come with us to check…
I completely lost my routine life… for almost 40 days I wasn’t doing my regular things anymore, that’s a big change for me, believe me… But fine I don‘t want to make the introduction longer and longer let me come to the topic… I better start with him, because he made the trip colorful, I hope there is a color for stress too… lol… Yeah he gave a lot of mixes..
My business partner was very clear, she said when she arrives in India she ‘s going to buy a second hand car, to get rid of the cab as fast as possible… so second day after she landed we started hunting for a car…
I didn’t know I’ve made a few sins in my past… all sins came in the name of the car… lol… We bought a Fiat Palio diesel, afterwards we came to know it’s one of the worst cars in the world with lots of problems… ! I even found someone mentioning in a blog that he even won’t suggest a Fiat Palio to his worst enemy!
Maybe that sounds funny… but… I can understand him with a little smile… My knowledge about cars was zero, only twice I touched the car steering , that happened in a driving school which I didn’t continue following anymore due to my laziness … Oh yeah now I can hear you saying ‘Who made this road trip?’… No doubt my partner from Belgium, she has been driving all the way… Ok now come back to my knowledge in cars… by now I almost know how the car runs and what are all the important parts… I even started thinking to try to go follow an auto mechanics course to learn more…
A human mind always lies in between right and wrong but never thinks about balance, I mean the third part is mostly hidden for the mind… likewise when we started our trip the third was hidden…
One fine day, early morning, we both started our road trip.DSC_0129new (Small) On our first day we have to reach Mangalore, going through Kerala roads.  I set the GPS with destination Mangalore… really feeling ashamed about making the decision to follow the route the GPS mentioned… because I know very well that this road leads to a Reserve forest… but… I saw we only need to drive 4 km to reach Palakad road.. so I thought maybe it’s possible … Instead of taking Palakad Highway we took Siruvani road..
And there all of a sudden we saw a beautiful rainbow and we felt like following it… I am really very sorry for the picture I took…  I was just starting to learn how to take pics… instead of setting it to fine mode I‘ve set it as normal …so I’m sorry for the quality…
Thanks to God we almost saw where the rainbow ends, my business partner said her grandma used to tell her that at the end of a rainbow you can find a pot of gold coins… am not in the mood for a trekking onto the hill to check the gold coins… but it was interesting to know…
We reached Kovai Kutralam, from there we can reach Palakad Road in 4 km.  A guy ,standing at the front gate, saw a European girl driving and forgot to look at me… He shows 10 fingers so I though he asks 10 Rs entry pass at the gate, so I took 10 Rs and gave it to him … then… he said only at 10 AM they will open the gate… lol… I told him we’re not here to see the place we just want to reach Palakad Road… He ‘s inconvincible and simply says ‘This is a Reserve Forest, you‘re not allowed to go through’…
Without any choice we have to turn back and return all the way we followed the rainbow…
We reached Palakad National Highway again and I felt like ‘fine, here we go again’… but … it ‘s almost 10 AM and my European partner – addicted to ’ bondas ’ after her few visits to India – starts looking around for a coffee shop….
Without words… I understood… lol… asked her to pull over nearby Madhukarai, it’s a small shop but she had at least 3 bondas and parceled few!… lol…
We regained little strength and started moving again… after reaching Kerala border we both felt like the roads are full of landmines, if you need to escape from the bump you need to go through a field full of landmines , you have to sacrifice few things, if someone comes opposite…
It’s a choice between the bumper or both of us and we respect ourselves more than the bumper so we chose us… We didn’t even think about the tires… luckily we changed all 4 before we left… even the stepney Tyre too… The funny part is, we’re driving without jocky or any other instruments… Till now we don’t know why we changed the spare tyre without having issues…
We almost didn’t have breakfast so I thought like let’s eat lunch in Kerala … We started moving very fast, I set the GPS to find nearby restaurants… but… unfortunately that day, I still don’t know why, all restaurants were closed… We were both looking at each other, not knowing what to do… I am smoking and smoking without having anything… my stomach already started burning like I can cook rice with it… Luckily we saw a hotel with attached restaurant that serves food… I felt like I achieved something great…

I still don’t understand how the small city Mahé, that belongs to Puducherry, can be completely filled up with wine shops, a real place for alcohol lovers!… I thought to read about it later on when I finish this trip…
I‘ve never seen a place like this, looking like a market place for wine shops… The only problem was… the roads are very small and it’s hard to park the car, but still … we managed to find a spot, because… my full mind said come on fast… it looks like the market area is going to come to an end…
I asked my partner to stay in the car and stepped into the nearest wine shop and tried my best to speak in Malayalam asking how much the bottles cost… but get a simple reply of 300 Rs in full Tamil… I was like ok sorry for my bad Malayalam… I was so happy to see all the bottles which I can’t see in Tamil Nadu, it’s really a pity seeing all imported drinks everywhere in India except in Tamil Nadu… Really happy to see a bottle of Royal Stag for just 300 Rs… LOL…
I started to ask the prices of all the bottles… ‘How much is that one, and this one’… Finally I picked 3 and camemr black_038 (Small) out … One pity was, when we continued driving, I saw Black Dog and a board saying English wine shop… We couldn’t stop because the police didn’t let us park, so… half halfheartedly we started moving again…
After crossing Mahé we saw a beautiful sea view… at last we reached Mangalore at midnight…!!!

Mookambike…!!

We were so tired after the long trip … I mean ‘the duration’ not ‘the distance’… In India a long trip is mainly based on the duration not the distance because of the roads, even if you drive through a National Highway it won’t make any difference … We have one excuse called ‘population’, maybe right now all the rest of the countries got scared that we because of the population may reach heights, but for our government population is an excuse, yeah really, can’t help it, a lot of population means a lot of people are able to work; this doesn’t mean a lot people will use the road, ok, I don’t want to go into politics most of the time… it will make us stress or get angry… I better keep track on the travel… so all of us can have a nice time…
Again after a long trip (which means based on duration) ,we started moving to DSC_0212 (Small)Udupi Krishna Temple, such a beautiful place … only we couldn’t make it to go on time but we could see the place in and around and managed to eat lunch not breakfast… lol…
I really liked the lunch there … little spicy but still was nice, Anne never likes curd (Anne is my business DSC_0296 (Small)partner…). But… as per the temperature, even it’s monsoon, few places are exceptional… like when you travel in hill area or at side where less people are living, there you can feel the real monsoon otherwise you mostly end up with mud and a lot of sun… These things need to be clarified by a biologist or ecologist so … my topic is … how grateful I am when she said ‘I don’t need curd’ … lol… I’m really happy to have one more cup … We decided to go to Mookambika temple…
Our GPS as always… messy… shows a stupid right… I think Google maps should measure the roads in India, it should not take it as a road if even in records is mentioned ‘Avoid motor cycle road‘… You may need to go a long way to reach the same destination…
So we missed a right … or I should say we didn’t want to take the left to reach the place..so we have to cross a sea view.. it’s really a nice one… tourists who’re passing by stop, stay a while and like to take pics … maybe those who want to see the less crowded sea shore with a beautiful view will enjoy this place…  it’s clearly mentioned  ‘dangerous to swim’… but a few still dare to take the chance to swim so it seems like it’s totally up to you…DSC_0630 (Small)
We take the next right… a beautiful forest way … on the way you can see nice birds especially peacocks and a lot of monkeys too… It’s almost evening when I see a bird sanctuary in Kollur so I don’t want to go in … Possibly it is one of the best bird sanctuaries as far as I could see with all the green in and around … but we continued driving to reach Mookambika…
At 4 or 5 o’clock in the afternoon we reach the temple premises.. .Kollur Mookambika is one of the very old temples as per my little knowledge..I heard Adi Sankara started here to spreadDSC_0603 (Small) his techniques (It’s better to google about him and kollur)… It was my dream to see this temple at last it happened… We were both reading the Prasatha board … what to buy,… Anne was so curious to know what’s that meaning of ‘Vehicle Pooja’… I told her they do some rituals for the vechile, she was saying ‘Then we should do this with our car to… for a safe journey… I told her it’s fine we ‘ll do it in a small temple if necessary, … We spent some time in and around the temple and our next target is reaching Jog falls, we started to move ,there was a way which takes you immediately to the falls… I mean a hill way…
It almost started to rain and the road wasn’t so great but we’re both enjoying the water DSC_0650 (Small)coming through all the way… In a few places I had to step out of the car and walk a little bit to see if the road continues or not… Once they‘re constructing a bridge… we couldn’t see it clearly … there is a road going left and straight… we’re both confused… I was looking around and saw some tire marks going left so I told her we should take left , but Anne said ‘no it’s completely mud , we might get stuck there’ … so I need to get down to check , luckily I bought a cigarette lighter with a torch so I could see … I told her to wait in the car and started to walk a bit … first I wanted to check the left side road… I came to know it’ s nothing but a water crossing … luckily Anne stopped… then I walked straight forward and saw the road continues, I gave her a signal to come DSC_0654 (Small)straight to the end, walking in the forest is not so easy believe me, … Before all this, I saw a dog , I thought ‘wow!’  ‘How come a German Sheppard Is wandering around in the forest,… suddenly I felt like taking the camera to take few snaps, and then when I looked closely I figured out it’s a wolf!… lol… still I start laughing whenever I think about it…
We saw lots of different animals crossing by … even a real dog!… lol… the clock almost shows 9 PM… I ‘m very new to camera so I was thinking how to take pics of Jog falls by night,… suddenly I remember … almost all Indian touristic places close at 8 PM or before even earlier… when I think about it we almost reached the falls , so … we want to go check… and we heard the sound very clearly but the gate is … closed … Without any choice we have to go back…
I was checking the fuel level when we’re going down the hill… it was not so great. We will be able to drive around 100 km more … but still we are not happy with it… we stopped in a nearby coffee shop and ask the nearest fuel station … she said all the fuel pumps will open again at 8 AM , I was thinking ‘perfect’ and told Anne not to worry … all the way fuel pumps will be open, this is another pity, if you come out off Tamil Nadu where you can find fuel pumps working 24 hours a day, we saw no pumps working… I told Anne ‘maybe it’s a State Highway and that explains why all is closed?’… ‘Let’s go check on a National Highway…’
We tried our best, … driving all the way … all fuel pumps closed,…on one point we have 2 options … either we sleep in the car in front of a fuel pump or we drive another 25 km to reach the National Highway… I said ‘let’s try movin’g because it’s almost 3 o’clock and as per our GPS the fuel pump is pretty near so I felt like let’s give it a try….
Exactly 6 km before the highway our car breakes down … no fuel…..

Knowing the Third…!!

When the car broke down I checked the time … almost 3 AM, luckily Anne has managed to stop at left side …
Actually when the car went off, we were trying for a few times to restart but we couldn’t make him wake up again, Anne said we can’t try so many times because the battery will go death completely, and then we won’t even be able to start even if we fill fuel… so we had to wait until the sun comes up in the east, I tried to sleep in the car and failed, maybe because I really didn’t know where we got stuck … with the GPS I can see the place name but still I’m unaware…
Unfortunately the sun isn’t willing to show until 6 – because the complete trip is during monsoon -, when a little light showed up at 6 AM I told Anne ‘Lock all the doors and try to sleep, I’ll walk and fill fuel in a water bottle’. She was looking at me ‘Are you sure..?’ So I told her I’m used to walking and if she comes along it will take more time, so it’s better to stay… She said ‘ok’, and I started fish hunter_017 (Small)walking … after a distance of 1 km I found a guy, asked him how far the fuel pump is, he couldn’t understand my language as well he couldn’t speak English,… I was showing him the bottle and asked him diesel, then he said ‘oh petrol pumps will only be open at 8 AM and I need to walk further … 3 or 4 km, so 2 hours to go and too much distance … and … Anne staying alone so I decided to walk back to the car…
When I was walking back, Anne could already see me walking and I didn’t want to disappoint her that I’m the start_026 (Small)not yet keeping fuel, so showed her the empty bottle from long distance so I thought she would understand…I reached the car and told her ‘will be open at 8 AM only, it’s crazy to wait there so I came back…’ A little more light started to arrive and I saw there was a lake in about 100 meters at the left side, Anne was taking some rest.. so I took my camera and started to walk towards the lake, there I saw lots of birds but … toochecking out_027 (Small) far away, even a bird nest…, first time I saw a nest through a camera, I saw a lot of nests before but like this is different… but no birds in there… I wanted to take a picture of that nest, but there was a lot of distance in between, I was trying my best to focus… but don’t think I got nice view… I didn’t expect I ‘d see a lot more nests on the way…
A person who saw I was trying to reach the nest came near me and asked what I was trying to do, I knew very well if I would try to explain he won’t understand so I showed him the nest , he started to smile and said there is a small temple down to the lake and he’s the one taking care of it, it’s a temple for a goddess. e opened the temple and asked if I wanted to see…
It’s a pretty small temple but am happy with the freedom there , I asked him if I could take a picture of this Goddess DSC_0719 (Small)he said ‘no problem’, taking pictures is completely new for me and as i said before it tried my best to take few…
I thanked him, as well asked him to stand in front of the temple and took a picture… I checked time… almost 7… so decided to go back to the car. A slight rain came along when I started walking and it gets very heavy when I finally reached the car. I stepped inside and waited for few minutes checking the vehicles crossing… maybe I could find a lift… after few minutes a small truck arrived… I stopped him and asked to drop me in the nearest fuel station… He said the next fuel station will come in at least 6 km,… told him ‘thank god you arrived’… lol…
He dropped me at the opposite side, I gave him 50 Rs… he was a little shy to accept it but I told him ‘it’s fine please keep it’… I filled 2 liters of diesel so we could move the car to that fuel station…and then… I needed to find another vehicle to get back to the car … almost 6 km by walk will take some time, so I tried to stop every vehicle crossing my path … There came a truck normally we call it as tractor… he stopped, he was collecting some kind of food for the cows and then DSC_3069 (Small)going back I suppose… He asked me ‘two wheeler or four wheeler broke down?’ told him ‘the car’ … He said ‘ok get in’, I had no place to sit, I had to stand in between the front part and end part… believe me it was a beautiful morning, standing in between the joints and enjoying wind in and around … after 2 km he dropped me at a place and said ‘there you can find share autos, go get one fast’, I tried to pay him a little but he refused with a laugh and started moving, I walked to the auto who was waiting for customers, most Indians know the meaning of ‘share auto’ for those who don’t know I’ll try to explain … It’s an auto that takes as much people as possible and gets paid by all, kind of sharing is based on the distance, so I was in, he saw I was carrying fuel and asked where I need to go, on the way I counted how many flyovers I crossed and told him need to be dropped at the3 rd… he said ok but keep 10 Rs change, told him all fine… he didn’t start moving he was still waiting for 2 seats to be filled up, after 10 to 15 minutes I called him and gave him 50 Rs and asked him to start … he was so happy and started to yell at the rest of the passengers, because all of them were bugging him why he didn’t want to start… I came up with a solution, he was saying ‘look he gave me 50 Rs and asking me to start’, in a time pass of 10 minutes I met a person who refused money and another a guy yelling for 50 Rs .. may be that’s India…
At last I reached the car and filled up the fuel and asked Anne to start, she tried few times and it wasn’t working, I was like what’s happening..? the car stopped because of no fuel or is it something else..? Anne said if the fuel is completely gone there will be nothing in the little tubes, they need to be filled up again… possibly that’s the problem so we have to wait for few more minutes… I asked her to try again nothing happened… she said am not going to try more because if the battery goes off we can’t do anything anymore … we better find a mechanic…
I forgot to tell you … when I filled up the fuel heavy rain started and I can’t step out, so I was thinking mechanic means again 6 km… lol…
After a few minutes I was begging my Guru ‘Please save me!’… and asked Anne to start the car for one more time and it started… I was telling Anne I almost begged him to start the car… She said’ yes, I was thinking about him too’… We were so happy the car started … on the way again to reach Hampi…

Hampi – Part 1…!!

Until that moment we both didn’t care much about the car, after the incident we started thinking… is he ok? … do we have enough fuel?…even if we hear a different noise I DSC_1107 (Small)started to ask ‘What’s that sound?’. On that particular day he showed us his importance… We realized how much we depend on him…it’s not about a good or a bad car…
Before we started the trip we gave our car to double check to Chandra lube in Coimbatore … my personal advise is ‘please don’t give your car to that garage’ … They really don’t know what to do… In the beginning they said they can fix all, after a few days they said they ordered parts for about 10000 Rs , we said ‘ok fine’ -we needed the car to be fixed-. After another few days they said ‘pulley alignment needs to be checked’, but ‘we don’t have the diagram’, ‘the car needs to be sent to fiat or we need to call my TVS mechanics’… I asked them ‘so you don’t know anything’..?? If it needs to be fixed by them why I need to give it in service here..? They said ‘ok give us one day we will take the car to a Bosch service center to check the error code’, I said ‘ oh god, so you have nothing ..?’ Finally the car was fixed and they said ‘we didn’t charge much… only 17000 Rs’, nothing had to be paid to fix the car but they replaced few parts so still the bill -for what they replaced- is way too much… after a few days we faced the service signal problem, if it shows you have to close the cycle to get rid of it.. .First stop the car and take away the key, after few seconds immediately start the car again… that will make the signal go  away… We know this thanks to the my TVS guys who showed us how to do… The only problem with them is lac of fixing a problem on time, the rest they do really fine… they even helped us in a critical situation…
After getting serviced by my TVS we are ok with it, I like to test the car with a hill ride and a little longer distance and it worked really fine… as per our knowledge we believed we almost fixed all important parts so we could go. When you experience a car can stop for any kind of reason and you can’t do anything at all, you will start focusing on the thing you depend on… that’s common for all, like during a job or business… it’s really a common thing…
After all those funny morning exercises , we started moving, we don’t have much distance to cover, so we decided to stop place by place and continue…
On the way to Hampi in and around you can see a lot of green, so I believed I can take a few pictures of birds… lol… We bought a brand new Nikon D7100 camera which came up with a Nikkor 18-105 VR lens…mr black_050 (Small)
So where ever I see birds I ask Anne to pull over the car and try to walk around with it, after a few hundred shots I came to know a few things… I need to be clear… I need to learn the basics first, very clearly and if necessary we need to buy a telephoto lens…
We ‘re driving for about 8 to 9 hours to cover only 200km, all the way I saw so many different kind of birds… When I try to take a picture and check in the view finder to zoom fully to the object finder I see a lot of noise… and I come back and start reading the manual and browse on internet . I found if I set too much ISO noise will occur so I try to reduce it and I end up with aperture or shutter speed ,am still learning to take pics so I can’t give the proper ratio as per the light so please browse about those three important things of a DSLR camera…
The whole day we both don’t forget to check if the fuel level is ok… lol… finally we reach Hospet near to Hampi in the evening…

Hampi – Part 2…!!

I was reading about Hampi before we were going there. It is DSC_1739 (Small)mentioned as birthplace of Anjaneya (son of air) and Rama, met him here in a cave , you can see it…I really thought like wow I really want to see this… Air means strength, I’m lagging so that’s why I felt like I should visit this place, to gain more strength and energy …
Most of the time my problem is … English. With the help of Anne’s editing I’ m writing this long story…  in English … for the first time.
DSC_2008 (Small)I came to know the meaning of ‘ ruins’. That place moreover is called ‘Hampi ruins’. I really wish I could see how Hampi might have looked like before… Right now I can only imagine but it’s ruined,… I mean … I want to feel and experience how the place is like it was … A very important place for the long living Rama and Anjaneya who both met there… The start of a long story … But… I felt it’s more like a touristic place not a place like Thiruvannamalai or other spiritual places … you ‘ll know what I mean if you had the chance to experience being there…
The beauty of nature and the place in and around is wonderful… You can spend a few days here if you are a person who is more interested in the ‘historical’ or ‘archeological’ part… Which doesn’t mean it ‘s not a spiritual place… but… As per my little idiotic mind I felt like not enough..DSC_1883 (Small)
At most of the place you can see the Anjaneya statue made out of one rock and mostly a rock cave under it . If you are a photography lover you can wait there till the natural light comes into the right position and … enjoy yourself…
I saw most foreigners come to Hampi, hire a vehicle and roam around … even 2 of them asked Anne how to reach the temple without knowing it is her first time visit to… lol…
It’s really a nice place full of nature and wonderful surroundings … in the evening we decided to go to Mumbai… from Hampi to Mumbai is really a long way but we want to give it a try… at first we want to fill fuel… that’s an obvious thought after all what happened the day before yesterday night…
We went to a fuel station, told him to fill for 1500 INR, he said ‘ok’ and suddenly came back and said ‘filled for 700 like you said’,… I said ‘I asked to fill for 1500 INR why 700 INR…?’
He said ‘Oh sorry I thought for 700 INR’ and said ‘please check am going to fill for another 800 INR’ … I thought like how come someone can mix with 1500 INR and 700 INR and said ‘ok fine go ahead’…
And … He didn’t put the meter to 0, he just filled for another 100 and said ‘sir ok filled for another 800 INR…’
I asked him ‘oh I see ,then how come I didn’t see the 0 before you filled..?’
He said ‘ohh please let me check the machine’ and he said ‘am really very sorry you are right…’
Because normally you can get a bill from the machine itself telling you how much you filled … I asked him to give the bill from the machine… he replied ‘please check the 0 now I’m going to fill for another 700 INR’… I said ‘ I always check 0 you don’t worry, fill that amount what I asked’… It’s really a stupid old trick , most of them all know … but nowadays I hear they just press some air -from another room nearby the fuel pump- so only the meter runs… I felt like beautiful and thank you very much…
Anne was laughing with those stupid guys … they tried to do something not correct and trying to correct in a way that’s also not correct… lol… so it’s really funny those guys… finally we checked the fuel level and decided to move towards Mumbai… I began checking all pics in the camera view finder… and Anne started driving again…

Hillway to Mumbai…!!

It is already evening when we started driving, we clearly know it will be very hard to reach Mumbai in one stretch, we had a second thought… going to Pune and if necessary… halt and go…
I should say it’s a nice Highway and as usual we missed lunch… Near Hubli -I think- I asked Anne to pull over the vehicle to buy some cookies… Bought a few veg puffs and DSC_2023 (Small)enough water plus a coke for her… till Hampi we saw a lot of shops at the road side with quality cookies, normally here called as Tea hops…
So I always believe there is hope to find a hotel or a tea shop selling spicy cookies… that would be enough for your stomach … once you go away from the South side you miss all those things, hardly you can see a tea shop selling puffs and other spicy cookies…
So… I knew it’s already late, we’re not going to have lunch, as well having dinner is doubtful so I bought a lot of items to fill our stomach on the way…
I really don’t like the pictures of the birds I took, I was completely disappointed, so called one of my friends who can handle a camera very well to ask about the right settings… though he’s a Canon user he told me a few techniques… it’s hard for me in the beginning but I tried to memorize the way he explained the calculations, it’s nice…
As well he asked me ‘Where are you’, DSC_1578 (Small)told him ‘on the way to Mumbai’, he said ‘oh you may try to go to Mahabalishwar, it comes before Pune, it’s a beautiful hill, give it a try’ I said ‘ohh, ok, will try…’ Me and Anne need a point to rest in between… I said ‘thanks’ and checked the map to know where it comes… It’s situated about 100 km before Pune…
So I set the GPS. It’s still a long way to go … around 2 to 3 AM Anne said ‘I need some rest’, I said ‘yeah me too… tired of navigating… lol…’
So we decided to find the right spot to pull over the car and take some rest…
I took the back seat and completely fell asleep with the Hampi birds in mind… lol…
Anne woke up early morning and tried to wake me up but I’m not an easy sleeper as well not an easy person to wake up… ‘finally’ she said, ‘we have company…’ I slightly opened my eyes… and saw a person standing next to the window, looking at us like we’re animals…
I woke up and nodded my head, almost gave him a symbol like ‘your zoo time is over you can go back to your work’… and got down from the car…
I saw that place was really nice, we parked at a spot full of green…
When I walked around I saw an insect… a little bigger… but colorful… I took the camera and tried to capture it… DSC_2652 (Small)That ‘zoo’ guy came back and was looking at me like what… ?
Ok fine … I showed him the view finder and tried to explain what I’m trying… After almost 30 minutes… A guy like me doesn’t have a problem to brush in the middle of the road but for Anne it was hard… lol…
I told her ‘never mind just give it a try’… ha ha ha… it was really funny… in 10 minutes we refreshed ourselves and started moving to Mahabalishwar… almost in an hour we reached the place… Anne suddenly stopped the car … I was like why…? She was looking at a Tea shop, a guy making bondas, very hot…!

Mahabaleshwar…!!

It was a perfect morning, warm sun… when we start driving on the hill, it became hard to find the sun, mr black_052we were almost in the sky in between the clouds… sun rays tried to come through where ever they find a gap… looking like a yellow laser holes…
That hill was really a charming and long one… I wanted to take as much pics as possible, I kept asking Anne every 10 minutes to stop because each and every move you could see fine beauty… finally I decided to walk, DSC_2122 (Small)asking Anne to follow…
Many say a road trip during monsoon is not a good idea… at that time Delhi and few other major cities were paralyzed by the rain water… but still we didn’t want to stop what we started… Seeing a hill during monsoon is different…
DSC_2209 (Small)You can see water trying to come out in all possible ways… you can see small to large waterfalls… it’s really beautiful to see so many… but… going on a hill during monsoon can be dangerous too..
On that hill we want to go see Mahabaleshwar temple so I set the GPS to it… unfortunately… again our GPS couldn’t locate the exact place, I tried asking a few fellows but it’s hard to find the way to get in…
After taking a few u turns, driving in the same way, we saw the road to Mumbai goes the opposite way , I said ‘fine let’s move’ , Anne said ‘it’s fine if you want to go see the temple, we try to find’, possibly it might be an easy place to find but for us it seems hard, so ‘leave it , let’s go on.’ This hill is completely out of our schedule, a surprisingly nice place…
When I think about the complete trip, about hills, this one and Kollur always pop up , green, cloudy mist… gives a wonderful color to our memory…DSC_2066 (Small)
We started driving with bondas as breakfast… The problem with Anne is, when she finishes eating one she won’t ask me one more, she will look at me, then I realize ohh ok one more, I think she looked at me lot of times… I’ am not much of a potato eating guy… breakfast means pongal or dosa or something like that… Bondas are just something we eat without any reason, but for Anne it’s food… so I started to feel hungry… lol…
On the way we bought fruits for rest of the day… and moved , I thought maybe western Ghats ends in Mahabaleshwar because as far as I’ve heard it ends at Pune, don’t know where… so thought to check … still not yet… All the way to Mumbai it looked like they made roads on a hill, I could feel it as hills…
Almost evening… Anne’s cell phone battery charger doesn’t want to work… I felt like ‘wonderful’! Believe me without GPS it’s hard to reach, so we followed the boards … most of the time getting angry because it’s only written in Hindi… If you cross a major city in the South it’s always mentioned in English, local language and Hindi… but going North, so many places only Hindi we both became illiterate all of a sudden… lol… not in all places… I think it ‘s necessary to mention in English everywhere…
Almost DSC_2366 (Small) near to Mumbai Anne noticed monkeys and pulled over, she said ‘wow’! ‘Ohh ok by the way be careful with your purse; if one of the monkey takes your purse with passport you may need to spend the rest of your life searching the monkey… lol…’
She said ‘what?’ I said ‘monkeys don’t know what’s inside, they think like ‘human monkeys hide food inside, so they can have it… so please take some fruit, step outside DSC_2335 (Small)and give it to them … I’ll be in the car to take care of your passport…’
Really sweet monkeys … when she serves the oranges one of the monkeys received it with both hands… funny to watch… Most of the time it’s hard to find the difference between man and monkey, if they could speak they may behave more sensible I think…
Finally… we saw a small town, I asked Anne to pull over to search for a charger but … nothing I could find … I asked her to go to the city and park at a mall… I’m very sure Mumbai has a lot of malls… after a few km we saw a small mall… I went inside and found only one shop for mobiles, asked him a charger… not available here … I was like nooo… but he said look down, there is a small shop they sell what you need… located exactly where I entered the mall… lol…
I went to that particular shop, asked him to give charger, he gave me one… I kept asking him over and over again and again ‘Are you sure this one’…? He looked at me for a while and said ‘ I’m very sure’… I paid and returned to the car, plugged in successfully … this one was charging… it was a great relief… we could set the GPS to our destination again!

Mumbai…!!

Mumbai, a nice big city with lots of people… The traffic in Mumbai is really too much it’s like moving inch by inch… I saw all kinds of cars, seems most of the Indian millionaires are living here… I also see this is one of India’s magic cities…
Magic city means if you want to do something and you choose the right thing at the right time you will be one of the big fellows… Most of the Indian cities has that magic, in no time they grow up as well in no time they lose all… it’s a city of magic… Mumbai seems to be one of the most important magic cities…
One thing I noticed is when the sun sets the city awakes, maybe it’s my view but Mumbai is more active in the evening…
At night near marine drive we saw a restaurant selling lots of items , Anne said a cold beer with pizza would be nice… I said hmm well let’s try… We checked the menu Anne, pointed at a pizza ‘Mumbai spicy’ or something I was looking at Anne and didn’t say anything …
After the waiter had left I told her when you order pizza it isn’t Indian food so just choose the one with original ingredients ,if we need Indian spices then we should order DSC_2445 (Small)an Indian dish, mostly that will give the best taste… can’t afford a ‘test’dinner… when we went to Kovalam I noticed a lot of foreigners were eating their ‘native food’… I really can’t understand why they travel here … India is known for lots of food varieties for long long time… and if they eat their usual food, what’s the reason to come here? … To see the sea..? I was wondering about this question and decided they’re losing few things… of course until you find out the right places Indian food is hard..
In the beginning Anne always used to say just one bowl of rice is more than enough for her. When she noticed how much I’m eating … she used to ask ‘How come you can eat this much?’ I told her I’m the one eating less… you ‘ll come to know…
After a few days have passed Anne started eating full meals, believe me more than me… before she met me, she has been in Delhi… DSC_2377 (Small)she said ‘What kind of food they’ re eating… I can’t even taste…’ told her she missed the nice shops that’s the problem…
Right now, if someone gives and Indian menu, Anne can order herself… lol…
In Kovalam it’s a business trick … they won’t let you go, they show you everything is available there and the price goes up like a rocket… I went to ask a guy who is running a restaurant , ‘do you have anything for me..?’ lol… He smiled and said ‘nothing really…’ I ordered some fries with beer and went about 5 km away from the beach, to eat something tasteful…
So that’s why I told Anne to go for the original pizza ingredients instead of choosing their testing ones… We can’t afford night dinner… lol… As expected the pizza wasn’t so great… Anne said ‘baked too much’ I said all fine for me… all my focus was on the beer ,so didn’t mind…
Marine drive is a wonderful place to sit and watch during night time… as long as you want … I really loved that freedom,… in most places in the south they won’t allow you going near the seashore after dark…
It’s really good to see families walking at midnight withDSC_2574 (Small) a kid. When I was a kid I always thought about roaming around at midnight but it never happened, here at midnight that kid just learned to walk … tried to run away from the family and the whole family tried to catch it … really good to see… The complete joy off that little one inspired me and made me feel happy too…
Don’t know how this place can be like this at midnight… families especially women walking around… it’s good to see the freedom here…
The next day was … a holiday… we both tried to go check markets nearby but unfortunately all shops were closed so we were walking and walking in the empty streets, imagining how they will look like when its crowded…
Anne said ‘need to buy some cloths’, so we went to a nearby mall … really a huge one… with wonderful offers, really… Me and shopping… a complete mismatch, hope that’s the same for most guys… I was saying Anne please make it fast… she tried her best… after 3 hours she said ‘Done!’ … ‘Let’s go’, I felt like god women can stay in a mall for months but I said ‘oh it’s fine’… lol…

Ujjain… but reality said not this time…!!

I was browsing for lenses and wanted to check DSC_2471 (Small)the electronics market in Mumbai… finally we found a place -which recommended by most people-, we went there and checked for prices, if it’s lesser we want to give it a try, Anne was saying Nehru place inDSC_2426 (Small) Delhi is good for electronics, you can find cheap and good stuff there… I never went there, during our trip we’re going to Delhi too but then I need to wait for a few more days to reach, so I wanted to give it a try before we reach..
We entered the shop and checked the price… was way too much if you compare with the online selling price so we decided to roam around and check some more. There was a small shop selling camera items so we decided to hop in… they had a Nikkor 80-300 without VR, an older version I suppose, because with VR it’s way too much costly, the price they asked was 5000 INR, we felt like it’s fine let’s check… I was so happy to see the telephoto lens and started to imagine how the birds will look like through my DSC_2465 (Small)viewfinder now… lol…
We bought the lens… I realized the sun is going down so I can’t test what I wanted to test … need to wait till next day morning so I kept it as it is …
We both decided to go to Ujjain straight away and of course again it’s a longer distance, we bought enough cookies, I was urging Anne come lets go out of this city before it goes to it’s peak… We decided to move…
The problem with Indian vehicle drivers is … they push horn and drive, pushing horn is the best way to drive so far for most, not for everyone, there are plenty of decent drivers here, normally a chaos doesn’t happen that often… They just keep their hand on the horn and drive… no matter what. If someone doesn’t give way or if it’s hard to give way they won’t think to look in front they only think about pressing the button…
Some truck drivers really learned to play music with it… believe me they press it long time with a kind of rhythm, few times I really felt like unplug that horn and throw it away! Maybe they enjoy that music but it’s not good for my ears!
When we were driving through one of the busy markets we heard that music but this time it’s coming from a bike, he never stopped it and he wants us to give way… It was a small DSC_2460 (Small)road and plenty of people walking and crossing. It is really hard to give way… If they wait for five minutes the road will be clear, but they don’t have that much patience… always testing their luck…
In India most drivers live their life by luck, it’s really a miracle which can only happen here.. They escape from accidents at the very last moment, it became normal here. One gives, respect it and it’s not that fearful to anyone, following the way which shouldn’t be followed they do properly, in that way only driving happens here..
And then that guy… doesn’t have patience for 2 more minutes, he almost made a scratch on the car, asking Anne ‘don’t you know how to drive?’… Anne almost freaked out and said ‘ I really feel like getting down and slap him…!’
He parked his bike in front of our car ,even he made the mistakes he tries to get support, saying she’s not giving way… I said ‘it’s ok, move’, but he tried to get support from everyone around us, saying we made the mistake and everyone suggested him to move … lol…
Even i can’t understand the language I understood what they said, a foreigner, leave, move… finally without any choice he moved… I know if the same thing would have happened with any local guys he could have get some slaps…
We both almost freaked out and moved. I told Anne I really want a big road, I was saying ‘GPS quickly show us the bigger road’. Finally …we got enough road and wanted to take a left… last minute we noticed it’s a bus bay and no entry! I think it was our lucky day,… exactly there… Police was standing there…asking us to pull over the car…
He said it’s no entry! Anne started to speak in English… very fast … saying ‘I don’t see any sign, nothing, how can I know’… He was like wooh wooh wait, looked at me and asked me if I speak Hindi… I said ‘certainly not, I’m sorry’, told him ‘we didn’t see the sign very sorry’ … and then… he wanted to check Anne’s license…
Funny thing is … it was completely written in dutch… He said what’s this I can’t read, ok fine show me when this passport expires…? Anne asked him what you mean by license expires? I was trying to explain Anne every ten years we need to renew our license that’s what he’s asking… she said ohh no this one is for life time..
The police officer said ‘It’s impossible, how can you get lifetime international license’…
Next question of Anne made him little unhappy… she told the policeman ‘if you want I can call my embassy, you can check with them’… lol… and the police said no no need, just pay the fine… I asked the police how much… 300 INR, I paid and we start moving again …
After few minutes we were both laughing and I was saying to Anne ‘your first ticket in India you should celebrate’… lol… Again I was asking Anne ‘How come you got a lifetime license? It is impossible…’ She said ‘maybe no more but when she got it, got for lifetime…’ I said ‘all fine’ …
After a while we stopped to have dinner and started moving again. That was a good highway… Almost at 3 o’ clock in the morning we both decided to pull over the car and sleep for a while…

Indore – Part 1…!!

DSC_2979 (Small)It was a beautiful morning I woke up… as always without anything running in my mind, and off course Anne woke me up … otherwise I could have slept longer… lol…
Brushing in nowhere, my mind trying to polish the memories off yesterday, made me finally come to the conclusion… I need to test the new lens, so now I need birds ! I hardly remember a time when I woke up before the birds wake up, even I have doubt in that part, I believe birds may wake up before… I started waiting for the sun to move… standing in a cloudy place with just a little bit off sun and a few birds flying around… this is the problem with people like me… they want to take a bird picture… but we want to capture birds that never have been captured before from the first attempt…
I refused a few beautiful flights of a crow… could have been wonderful in my camera but I waited, because my mind focused on finding a bird which I have never seen before… At least I’m happy when my mind says ‘never seen’…
I don’t think it is hard to find one, I could have seen a lot of birds in my life because I used to be in a lot of villages, roaming around to see green… I didn’t pay attention on birds… Before birds were birds to me, no difference, now I started to differentiate, recognizing the ones I’ve seen in the past and from all the pics I‘ve seen throughout my life…DSC_3009 (Small)
So I decided that if I see a bird I’ve never seen in my life or never recognized I need to take a pic… after we started I wanted to go to a bird sanctuary… I came to know that there is a bird sanctuary called Yaval on the way, I hope the spelling is correct… So I said ‘Anne lets go there’… changing the destination of the GPS…
To reach… we need to go to a State Highway instead of going to a National Highway… although we started to like State Highways more… because they’re more lively than National Highways… a long road with nothing… State Highways are much more interesting… but off course not all them…
We almost reached the sanctuary, I wanted to know more about it so I was reading about it on the way… the webpage mentioned that this place is trying to get back to its own charm, like earlier… So I was like what? Is that place closed already…?
I decided to pull over and ask a few fellows, all were saying we’ve never heard of that place, sorry… I really didn’t feel ok with it… DSC_2763 (Small)but still I see sun which means I can give it a try to test the new lens… When we came close to a small lake, I all of a sudden asked Anne to stop and told her look!… There… a bird eating fish… it’s not a kingfisher but… it eats fish… lol…
Anne wants to see a kingfisher and DSC_2864 (Small)still couldn’t show her one… so before I want to explain about that bird I want to make sure it isn’t a kingfisher but still a nice bird… I was trying all possible angles to get it fit into my lens… still I’m an amateur but really tried my best… I was even checking the manual when that bird already had some 5 fishes… I desperately want to take ‘one’ good shot with this camera…
Finally am happy with a few amateur shots and I tried to take the tripod out for a test… but the bird came to know am taking out a ‘big stick’!… lol… and it flies away… I waited for a while and… it came back … I told Anne ‘lets go… enough of disturbing the birds’ lunch…’
We almost came out off the National Highway, the GPS shows we need to cross a hill, I asked Anne ‘is it ok…?’ She said ‘all fine’… and we took that way… almost sunset… I was walking on the hill, it doesn’t look like a high one if you’re standing at the roadside but looking down from the hill you can feel it… a beautiful sunset… I tried to take a few pics… and when it was almost turning dark I asked Anne to start moving again…
After some distance Anne suddenly says ‘I’m losing power…’ I asked her what she means by losing power…? she said steering became hard and she doesn’t know why…? I asked her ‘can you drive a little bit further…?’
We were almost at the end of the hill in the middle of nowhere… she said ‘it’s really hard … the steering is very heavy…’
I told Anne ok … pull over, switch it off and open the paned lets see… maybe the car needs a little rest… I said in a kind off optimistic way…
But Anne insisted not to switch off the car… saying if it’s a battery problem we can’t even switch it on again so better keep it on … I said ‘ok … As far as I know you are the expert now…’
We just opened the paned to take a look and a group of people came asking us ‘What’s the problem…?’ I said ‘all fine please you proceed…’ and asked Anne ‘is it possible to move the car a bit more..?’ I hoped she understood the situation… She replied ‘I can but it’s going to be hard’, I told her ‘then try the hard way…’

Indore – Part 2…!!

She pressed the traffic lights, so people coming behind us could understand there is something wrong with the car and … behave… I can see her trying hard to move the car, she doing her best, finally… after almost 2 km we see a restaurant and a truck driver who is trying to fix his vehicle there…
Anne said ‘maybe we should ask them for help…’ I said ‘ok please, sit in the car, I’ll try to go alone’… believe me a place where I’ve never been in my entire life, a language to speak whichDSC_2724 (Small) I never tried with anyone… only believing and hoping people are still people and not animals…
I went to the truck driver -he was trying hard to push a bolt with a spanner- and asked him ‘is it possible to fix our car, it suddenly broke down…?’ He looked at me like what…? and what car…? I showed him our car which was standing a little further…
He came with me and asked me ‘what’s the problem…?’ I could understand a little bit of what he was asking but hard to explain… so started showing with some hand signals that we were driving in air without steering and showing him steering became hard…
He said… ‘oh let me check the clutch and brake oil, in between Anne was saying ‘there is no problem with that oil, am very sure…’ I said told Anne ‘thank you very much please let the mechanic test…’ He checked those things and said maybe oil and water level low…?’ I really liked him even after Anne’s rude way of answering he still tried to help…
He took me to the restaurant and told them we were in trouble and he pointed out there is a women too… so like we all believe, if there is a women they can help… few more guys showed up and tried… saying in few kilometers we can find a mechanic…better start moving slowly and go there… We really had no choice… The truck guy said ‘fine you go in front we will follow…’
We decided to start driving very slowly with traffic lights on. After a while a cleaner from the truck waved his hand to show we are going front to show the place… until now we didn’t know he was calculating time to catch us…mr black_058 (Small) I was saying Anne he is a good guy…
Finally we reached a big fuel pump and we saw the truck… Anne please stop he’s pulling over we may need to stop here!… after he parked his truck he came to the fuel station and asked those guys for help… they checked oil and water level… almost all empty… In between a mechanic showed up and asked ‘What’s the problem’, the fuel guys said ‘there is a problem with the water and oil’, he nodded and poof gone…
even after filling the oil and water steering remained hard… Anne said ‘no use’… as well others tried… the mechanic came back and asked ‘still not ok…?’ I said ‘no, please check…’ he asked us ‘what’s the problem..?’ I said ‘steering seems heavy…’ He just took a light and shined under the car and showed us a long belt from the engine… ‘see?’ Belt is broken I can’t help… you’ll have to wait till the morning to go buy a new one a few kilometers further… I asked ‘can’t you buy one now?’
He laughed and said ‘it’s almost midnight… impossible…’
I was searching the truck guy… trying to say ‘thank you’… He was trying to say ‘sorry’… and was trying to ask the fuel filling guys when the shop will be opened…? And when we can get that belt…? He said ‘tomorrow morning I’ll give you my bike, you can go buy with my friend and come back… I thought ‘how generous’ but had to tell him I don’t know how to drive a bike…
He laughed… like he heard the joke of the millennium… ‘Are you sure you don’t know how to drive a bike…?’ I said ‘yes…’ He said…fine I’ll go then…’ I was saying ‘thank you’… and went back to the car where Anne was staying alone…
I suddenly realized ‘where did the truck guy go…?’ ohh I forgot to say ‘sorry’ and ‘thank you’ in between… While searching I went back to the fuel guys asking them where he went…? They said he’s already gone… I felt like ohh god… How come he just left without receiving our appreciation and thanks…?
That truck guy… why didn’t he even wait for my thankfulness and my saying how great I felt with his help… He was just ‘gone’… I was thinking and came back to Anne and said ‘he’s gone already’… maybe Anne was feeling little bit guilty too… she said ‘truck guys are good…’
I told Anne that if we stay here, we will only have the chance to leave from here tomorrow afternoon … ‘So what else we can do…?’ she asked me. I said ‘let’s try calling my TVS?’
I called my TVS and told them our vehicle broke down, asked them can you provide some service…? They said it’s only possible for the members… I tried hard to explain them that I tried my best to become a member but it wasn’t able to… they said ‘sorry sir not possible…’
I told Anne… the problem here is they believe if it’s a man, he handle, they believe if it’s me alone… I can sleep in middle of nowhere and can get some help tomorrow morning… and am really unaware what kind of help I can get from government for this kind of problem… even if they can help I doubt if it will be immediately…
Anne looked at me and asking me ‘what to do…?’ I told her ‘you try’ , they help for women not for men that’s for sure… she called my TVS and after so much explanation they agreed to help us..but they really helped us in a critical situation i should say..
With the help of the fuel guys I managed to tell my TVS our exact location, even the fuel guys said they could fix it next day morning…, at last I went to sleep in the back seat again… almost 4 o’ clock in the morning the carrier came to take the vehicle… and said that we’re almost 100 km from Indore… They said they will drop us at the fiat garage there… I said ‘all fine for me…’ after few tries the vehicle went up on the middle of the carrier… I said thanks to those fuel guys… We are sitting in the car which isn’t moving but we are moving…

Dil Chata Hai…!!

Finally we are sitting on top of the carrier… the guys who’re driving show us the signal saying ‘ready to go…’ I said ‘thank you, lets go’ with a lot of hand signals… hoping they got all… or at least all is ok…
I move the window down and light a cigi, the wind trying to change my hairstyle a little, really hard with mine, I have hair on which I rarely use oil… but still the wind on top of the carrier tried its best… I said ‘Dil chata hai… ‘!
Anne asked me ‘What’s the meaning?’ I said ‘I really don’t know…’ When I was studying in college there was a famous Hindi movie in which Amir khan acted… Three friends get in a car and start singing… obviously it is the title off the movie…
She was looking at me like why you saying this? I said ohh well, I really liked the car song I didn’t see the movie still but liked the song… We’re also three close friends and we even tried to match with 3 idiots… I was blabbering half asleep…
With all tension Anne was wondering how come I can blabber with a cigi in my hand… I said ‘don’t worry let me come to the point… that car song we really liked, and afterwards we saw in ‘the making off the movie’ that the car actually isn’t moving, it’s on a carrier including the full camera set up… so ‘Dil chata hai’ I said… lol…
I almost fell asleep, I realized in half sleep, the carrier stopped in a few places… I thought maybe for water or a coffee and maybe for a cigi… maybe after a few stops I fell asleep completely…
Almost 7 o’clock in the morning me and Anne heard the knocking sound of the car and we woke up, I saw the fiat name and symbol… we reached the garage… He said they’re goanna leave us here… from here we need to take care ourselves and he got the confirmation on how much we need to pay him and as well he didn’t forget to mention his bill book is missing, I called my TVS to check the bill amount… after 10 mins they called and called and called… I decided to just give him the money so they can leave the car in front of the Fiat garage…
I started looking around and saw theclose up kf_031 (Small) beauty and I said Anne looook.. a kingfisher!!! Anne was saying ‘Where, where…? Even we had faced a lot of trouble few hours before, a small bird not larger then a handful gave us back joy in life… I was pointing out the bird to her and she said ohhhh wow! But I saw more blue in pictures… lol… I said photographers wait for the moment to show utmost beauty… it’s hard to see a bird in its normal way on a picture.. she agreed half minded…
I suggested Anne ‘lets go have a cup of coffee’… We brushed ourselves in front of Fiat, ohh and of course there is a little lake nearby… She agreed, we started to walk … before we reached 10 feet further the security guy from Fiat ran after us saying ‘please move the car if you’re not here…’ I told him wait going for coffee will come back in 5 mins… he also agreed half minded…
I’ve never been at an office to notice when it starts and closes. So I was thinking if ten people working there, they will arrive at 10 sharp or before…? And how to find which is the right person to talk to? Me and Anne… waiting… in between I wanted to visit the small lake a little closer… it’s really not a lake… DSC_3484 (Small)just a small with water filled place, maybe before it was a lake before all the buildings came, now it’s just a place with a bit off water…
Almost 9.30h… two people approach the garage and look at us… and gone in… Ii went in and told one of them we need to fix our car… He said ‘the supervisor and manager need to come’… I said ‘ooh ok…’ It was almost like 10 to 10.15h when the garage filled up with a lot of people, I really don’t know who to talk to… and we both tried to go in to find out who is who..?
They asked us ‘from My TVS?’ Yes! We explained and told them the problem we were facing.. a guy from the garage took the car and asked us the problem… we were explaining… He said we’ll try our best… we could stay in their client area while landing_016 (Small)waiting… I asked Anne ‘in between can I go to the lake an come back? lol…
Anne laughed and said ‘ok fine go ahead’… told her ‘you can relax’… Walking in that place made my pants become full of mud… I came back… almost after an hour… I asked Anne to go check with the girl at the reception if they accept credit cards… as I predicted… they said no… so we had to ask for the location of the nearest ATM and started moving…
We both didn’t have anything for breakfast, both starving to have something… but we found a descent cookie shop and I saw puffs there… I asked him ‘you have veg puffs…?’ He said ‘yes!’ ‘and gold flake kings…?’ ohh of course you have to say bada size or chota size there… so I asked him ‘you have gold flake kings bada size…?’ He told me in English ‘yes we have kings’… I said ‘thank you’… ‘2 veg puff and a package of kings please’ and asked a coke for Anne…
After receiving I asked him where to find an ATM?… He said there is a mall nearby, easy to find… I said ‘wow’… and a veg puff there means they only add potatoes inside… I didn’t know… Anne was so happy with it … I wasn’t… veg puffs means something else to me… lol…
We reached the Metro Cash & Carry Mall at Village Pipliya Kumhar and saw the terminal inside… so happy with it… when we tried to enter the mall itself they said only allowed if you’re a member… You can take a look around but you ‘re not allowed to purchase… I was like ‘what?’… What kind of place is this? I really wanted to know Indian law… I even really don’t mind to study LLB -bachelor of law- ,after all the things that happend to me and now someone saying I can only visit to purchase if I’m a member! Anne was saying ‘I’m a member… but my card is in Belgium can’t help it… I said I only want to see the cameras and available accessories…

Fiat Garage – Part 1…!!

The Mechanic from the garage told me he can’t fix the old belt and need to purchase a new one…told him ‘please do’… It doesn’t matter really… an original belt for a Fiat Palio isn’t available on the market so they’re trying hard to find the best match… told them ‘all fine I want it fixed’… Anne was with me most of the time and she explained them what happened with the car and saying she needs it fixed…
Finally, somehow, they fixed it and gave back the car telling us happy journey… we were happy to have the car back before 3 o’clock , means we won’t miss lunch at least… we drove till the end and all we need to do is take a turn and change of road and… Anne lost the steering again… means the belt broke again… so we have no choice then taking a u-turn, I ran fast to collect the belt in the middle of the road and Anne took the worst u-turn ever without the belt and… back to the garage… those guys were looking at us… what happened? I show them the belt…
Told them please buy a quality belt and fix our car… he said right now in this garage your car holds the most priority… and we will try to fix it… a bit later the manager of the garage showed up at the car and he made a few suggestions, after a while – a white haired guy – possibly the owner came along, suggesting something else… I was really amazed about their knowledge…
If they can fix it or not, their knowledge is really excellent… they came to a conclusion… the pulley alignment isn’t great… the white haired guy was saying to Anne, madam we are going try one more time to give our best… if it doesn’t work you may need to stay one more day, we agreed … At this time –as per our plan- we need to be in Ujjian…
Till 4 PM they’re doing so many things… I felt like smoking so came out from the garage and started discussing with Anne about what to do next… In between the owner came out – I didn’t realize -. When the supervisor called us I just turned around and saw all standing there, I just killed my cigi and went their immediately…
They asked me to go with the mechanic to buy a new belt… I said ‘ohh come on’ -because I told them please buy a quality one, I made them feel not ok…- I told them ‘if there is any quality belt available… just buy we will pay… so please carry on… we only want our car fixed…’ they laughed and they asked me again ‘are you sure?’ I said ‘please… fix the car…’
They bought a new belt and in the garage I can see they are working one by one, on the other cars the mechanics started to move… but ours seems not to be able to give up… the supervisor and manager standing next to the car… he can’t even move… I almost understood the situation… our car is not going to be ready today…
In the evening I was walking alone through the streets of Indore… to be able to buy something to drink… I saw a wine shop near to the road… a lot of young guys sitting next to it and just drinking… people walking on the path… When they come near to the shop they started to walk on the road, especially women… I could understand why… but still… I was thinking central government urged a rule in Tamil Nadu to take away wine shops near the road… how come people here are sitting near to the walking path and drinking? I really have no clue… it seems they first tested the law in the South… lol…

FIAT garage – Part 2…!!

Next day very early morning we reached the garage… now we are looking more descent as per appearance wise… previous day we didn’t even had a bath… lol… We both urged to talk to the supervisor, telling him we really need to go to reach Delhi on time…
Oh yes suddenly we have to go back home – for some personal reasons-, we can’t go to Varanasi… so we decided to go to Delhi and fly back home and come back to Delhi and continue the trip…
The manager was looking at us like ‘what’? That’s too far away… we said ‘yeah but we come from too far away too’… the manager is a little concerned guy, even afterwards –after we started continuing our trip- he called us personally in the evening asking about my safety and as well Anne’s…
We both told them we really need to go back… he said he will do what he can… at almost 4 PM they fixed the car and they want us to go for a test drive before they hand the car over to us… the mechanic put the car outside and asked us to hop in… we both sitting on the back seat, the supervisor next to the mechanic in front… the car started to move…
After a km the supervisor asked me ‘want to test drive…?’ ‘If I need to test drive then you ‘ll all be admitted in hospital…’ I really don’t want to crack another joke of the millennium to saying I don’t know to drive… so I just asked ‘Anne like to test…?’ She said ‘yes’ …
I noticed a smile on Anne’s face saying it’s going fine now… I was so happy… but still I asked her ‘are you sure’? She said ‘yeah fine for now…!’ That last word I don’t like… what she meant by fine for now? In the future she can’t predict? Or something can happen in future? I expected an answer… fine… not that ‘now’…
Maybe she’s scared, I may blame her if she don’t use the word now… I was ok with her half answer and we came back to garage… reflection_019 (Small)We both said thanks to the manager, supervisor and the mechanic… ohh and of course in the free time in between I used to chat with the guard standing at the gate, asking the name of the bird in Hindi…
We both tried hard to interact but most of the time it ended up in silence, best language when you don’t know what to say… or may be call that spare time as time to think more, to express in a better way? All the time I thought about something else… tried giving him some money… He said ‘please no’…
I was waving my hand to say thanks to all of them… still now I’ve thought about calling the manager to say thank you… but it never happened… something never happens without any reason even you can make it happen… but maybe I want to make it happen once again… face to face… let’s see…
Anne asked me ‘what’s next?’ I said ‘food!’ lol… She was laughing… ‘Yeah’ I said… I need to buy in advance for dinner as well… so asked her to drive through the city… most of the National Highways won’t go through the city so it’s hard to find a place to eat so I told Anne it’s better to have something here itself…
Again we faced a nightmare, bike drivers driving in front of the car, ready to fall any moment, luckily at the last moment they drove back… and we saw the road in front is under construction… We both don’t know what decision to take… So far, as per GPS, there is another way going through state highway but we believed maybe this construction will take few kilo meters and done… we get nice road… so we decided to continue taking the same road…
We were driving very slowly to take care of all bumps in front of us… a Mahindra Bolero crossed us in high speed, me and Anne said nice jeep… can go all bumps but still not in this road… after a while we saw that car stuck in a big bump… I said that guy might be a local one and will be able to get help fastly… not for us, so drive carefully… Anne said Aye Aye captain… lol…
Almost 3 hours we took to cross 20 km… we both completely exhausted… finally we got a nice road, but we both got sleep too… so after driving two more hours we decided to sleep… I started to like the backseat of the car very much…

Jaipur…!!

I woke up very early morning and noticed the car is moving… I realized Anne was driving without waking me up… I asked her ‘didn’t get some sleep?’ She said ‘I just needed an hour sleep that’s all….’ I said ‘good’…
So far so good, our driving direction is going to be Jaipur – Delhi, instead of Gwalior – Agra – Delhi… the GPS said more than hundred km more if we take that route… but… we could have reached before if we had taken that road instead… We realized it’s already very late…
When we started the trip we had a dilemma about going to Gujarat or not… on the way I saw Surat is the same distance as Jaipur… We both started thinking to go to Surat and go meet a friend there or not?… but we really had to go for business… finally we decided to go for Jaipur…
Almost 8 o’clock because of all the truck crossing… we stopped in a place to have a cup of coffee… at that time we were at Rajasthan border… I really don’t understand how a place -very near to capital and known for lots of things like marbles, stones etc. and as well one of the famous touristDSC_3602 (Small) attractions…- can be this less developed…
I really didn’t understand… this place should have a nice National Highway… because all the attraction and as well nice history… -it holds the cities with names colors…-
I was thinking deeply and Anne noticed… asking me ‘what are you thinking about’? I was sharing the thoughts… She said ‘yeah at least the road should be nice…’ Now we both know very well we are not going to have breakfast… so my aim is to reach jaipur to have lunch at least… and am very sure it’s not going to be on time… but I hope at least last minute we can get a meal… I was telling my plan to Anne… ‘We better hurry a little so we can get a nice meal… be practical you’re not going to eat in a road side shop… and I don’t even see a descent hotel on the way… if possible I will try to get some fruit but I have doubts… so we better start moving to Jaipur…’ I was giving all my reasons to a person who can fill a stomach with few potato puffs… A nice meal was running in my mind so I wanted to convince her that she won’t even get a potato puff on the way… Somehow I won, she said ‘oh yeah in that restaurant -were we went last time- we can find a South Indian meal… yummy!!
I was like seeing heaven in the morning on an empty stomach… I told her ‘yes for sure and they provide puppet too… if you want you can have mine too’… I said in a teasing way… lol… finally she agreed … I promised my stomach ‘you get yours’.. so calm down don’t blow firecrackers inside…
When we reached Jaipur, the city was filled with rain… even when we parked the car… Anne was asking ‘are you sure?’ ‘let’s go’ I said… yeah ‘let’s run’… That restaurant was filled up with a lot of guests and we were the only ones entering after having a shower with clothes…
I know what am goanna order as well I know Anne wants the same so… easy for me… the waiter came up with the menu, I took it in my left hand without looking and said ‘South Indian dhali in one plate and no poori please…’
For lunch I only wish rice… Most of the time South Indian dhali comes with poori or chapathi… I really don’t know in which home in the South they cook poori or chapathi with rice for lunch… it’s a kind of hotel tradition I understand… but I desperately wanted rice …
and in second thought I asked the waiter jaipur mealto bring that poori too… I passed it to Anne… lol… She likes masala poori a lot… I had my meal with sambar twice then rasam and ending with sweet… When I’m almost finished Anne was playing with the papad…
I told her ‘Now I can see the world more clear than before’… lol…
The rain stopped after giving us a wonderful shower… we decided to take the vehicle and start moving to Delhi… we reached Delhi almost at midnight…

Delhi Bosch Service Center – Part 1…!!

DSC_4096 (Small) We were walking at Chandni Chowk, my eyes on search for Haldirams … I’ve been reading a lot of articles about Chandni Chowk mentioning it’s one of the best places to have food… but still I wasn’t able to find one… except Haldirams… maybe in my future visits I will be able to find more…
We both decided to leave the car in a garage. After doing some research we found out that Bosch Service Center has a machine which detects error codes so they can find the problems easily… After fixing the belt we heard a lot of noise… so we better leave the car in the garage, go back, let them fix it and come back…
When we were searching we really couldn’t find the exact place… it was really hard to find … on the way we saw a Fiat showroom..we were both happy after the Indore Fiat service and parked the car in front and asked them if it is possible to take care of the car..? They said ‘we are really sorry, we just opened and DSC_4099 (Small)we’re only selling new cars, we don’t have a service center here yet, it will be opened shortly…’ They gave us both some useful info… finally we found the Bosch center ‘hidden’ somewhere in Delhi… We really didn’t have a clue where it was located exactly…
We showed the car to the guy who is responsible and asked him how long it will take to fix…? He was checking the noise and as well I didn’t forget to tell him that the window switches are also causing trouble… and AC is not working well either… Even we didn’t switch on the AC I just wanted to make sure all is working fine…
A garage in the capital of India should be able to make everything work again… I hoped… He examined and told us will let us know soon… we took an auto to go back to Chandni Chowk…
I really could DSC_4091 (Small)stay a day in Delhi Airport, there is really plenty to see… our flight was still 3 hours ahead… I started checking which 7D short movies were running, asked Anne ‘what is it…?’ She said ‘it’s a nice experience with so many things going on, I experienced in the USA…’ I said ‘great!…then let’s get the experience in India…
We approached the guy at the counter and he asked me ‘when your flight?’ We told him we have plenty of time ‘so when is the show?’ He said ‘soon’… after us a family came and a few guys … show started immediately..
First movie was about zombies… even it is small I liked it, completely new to me… chair moving , air coming up under your chair and as well they make water effect too… As second one they showed a roller coaster… was really fun… it really looked real… I said to Anne ‘wow this is nice’… The guy who was sitting next to me booked the next show with different movies… lol… I noticed… maybe this is like old news for a lot… but new for a guy like me and him…
After roaming around a while we figured out we need to go catch the flight… I ordered samosa for both of us and on the cover it said ‘from Chandni Chowk to the world’… was showing to Anne and said ‘need to find this shop and go eat there when they make it fresh…’ lol… Anne was laughing when she had half a samosa in her mouth…

Delhi Bosch Service Center – Part 2…!!

We need to wait for almost a week to return back to Delhi… Bosch called in between and told us that a few things are not available and need to be changed… steering pump… I asked him ‘how much’ and then asked Anne ‘Is it ok?’… Said it’s fine and told him the day when we come and collect the car, one day before I mentioned him… , he said that’s fine we fix all…
We went back to Delhi, I called him and asked if we can come to collect the car… He said ‘will be ready tomorrow morning 10 o’ clock’… I knew it! and said ‘We will be there early morning sharp, no changes…’ He said ‘ok’…
Next day morning, called him again… He said ‘in 2 hours’, I told Anne if we are not there they will delay till tomorrow so we better go to the garage itself… Anne accepted and we went there with all our packed stuff, we wanted to make sure we are leaving… we put all the bags and the rest of our stuff in the car…
I asked him ‘What’s the problem, why is it not ready yet…?’ He said we faced an alternator problem, just gave it to service… asked him ‘what?’ Anne wasn’t so happy with it, she said very important part if it doesn’t work the car can break down anywhere without power…
I was like ‘no way’… I asked him ‘ok, how long will it take…?’ He said ‘our guy is already gone and checking now…’ I said ‘fine, we’re going to stay here…’
Almost lunch passed and I told him I really don’t want to hear the belt sound so make sure you make it fit properly… ‘We will take care of it’ he said with little smile… after a long waiting time a guy with serviced alternator arrived and we were happy, asked him make it fast please…
Suddenly a guy took grease and applied it on the belt so it won’t make noise… I wasn’t ok with what he did… I don’t think all the vehicle belts run with grease…
He asked us to take a test drive… asked Anne ‘how’s it going…?’ She said ok for now… again… lol…
‘Can’t be more clear this time…? We have a real long travel ahead you know?’ She laughed and said ‘it’s ok… but I don’t like that grease part’ I was saying ‘yes’ with my head…
And then he gave us a nice bill, Anne was like ‘what? I never paid this much for this kind of work… not even in my place!’ and I left her deal with it herself… The manager called the guy and gave her the phone, she was telling him the same thing… and finally she got some 2000 INR or more less… I was like wow…
Women are women everywhere… where ever you go… good bargainer… I was in the mood to start moving… but Anne was staying with the price… but she did very well… it was really not worth paying him… one of the worst services we’ve ever had…
We finally started moving again at almost 4 PM… our next target is Mathura…

Mathura – Part 1

Mathura is not so far to reach but still it’s evening… we want to reach as soon as possible…
People who know about Krishna know very well about the existence of 2 places Dwaraka and Mathura!! Those who don’t know about him or the history about this place please google it… Because if we need to talk about Krishna here it will become too long to read… and many have written about him very well…
We saw Delhi-Agra Highway and we paid until reach Mathura… the road was completely empty, I don’t know if it’s always like this or it’s just the time… A huge road… Anne almost covered 200 km in 2 hours… really a wonderful road … we saw that this road is going till Gwalior… We both felt the mistake we made from Indore… instead of taking this road we took the Jaipur road…
But… when the road gives diversion to Mathura… the worst road started… again an insult to a place -where people who love a person mr black_062 (Small)and believe this is one of his-… If you want to reach you need to go through and awful road…
and of course it’s a truck passing road… it became normal to us that if it’s a truck passing road, the road won’t be nice… On the way we saw so many trucks who went upside down… mostly because of a not perfect way of loading and to high speed or because of not taking rest at the right time…
Here a truck drivers life is really different… On the way you can see places with cots outside, they can pull over their truck, have dinner and sleep… once I was trying to go in, there was a old Hindi movie running, I really don’t know who the actor but all watching it happily and enjoying every moment… can’t say they need to sleep… because they lose a lot of entertainment… as well they travel for months to reach mr black_061 (Small)destination and come back… in between they need to drive day and night…
In between, they need to be careful for thieves as well… their life is complete another world…
We almost reached Mathura at midnight, I really loved all the cows roaming around but Anne was asking ‘how come cows are standing mr black_053 (Small)in the middle of the road?’ I told her it’s possible everywhere… Cows were given to the temple though Krishna is a Sheppard… so please drive carefully, if you make a small scratch on the cow people may do very harmful things to us… because of belief…
Anne was saying ‘no no I didn’t mean to scratch… just asking… lol’… I said ‘yeah can’t help, King of the roads… they are known as God too… so be a little careful with God…
‘So a cow is a god too here?’ Anne asked me… I told her here they are all mostly god… even dogs, pigs almost mr black_060 (Small)everything… even spiders have a story in the South… elephants you don’t need to ask… at each temple and every temple you can see someone sitting on an elephant head in front…
Here almost all made as gods… ‘so careful with the gods’ I said… lol… she couldn’t resist asking ‘so cats too?’I said maybe in Egypt … not here … ha ha ha… yeah women and cats… I was laughing…

Mathura – Part 2…!!

In the morning, I had a wonderful feeling around me… I was just feeling without doing anything… I felt like this place is really blessed… I want to keep this feeling as long as I can…
In the car, Anne was asking me ‘let’s go to the temple?’ I said ‘no it’s fine… I really like it like this… I don’t need to go in there…’ she asked me ‘what? You told me you need to go to this temple and now saying not necessary…?’
I said ‘yeah it’s fine really I don’t feel like going in.. I’m happy like this… This is really a nice place… I don’t like to be in a crowd to wait… I really like it like this no crowd and nothing but it gives a wonderful feeling…
Anne asked me ‘Are you sure?’ ‘yeah’ I said … ‘So let’s move?’ she asked … ‘For sure’ I said…
On the way we saw a big statueDSC_4122 (Small) of a goddess, in front a human bowing… that was a huge statue… I’ve showed it to Anne… she said ‘wow’… she might be happy when I was saying Goddess play a major role here… lol…
I took a few pics from long distance, we only saw it from the front side and started moving again…
On the way we saw lots of peacocks and in one place I saw a male peacock walking alone with long tail and showed to Anne… she was like ‘wooow… and pulled over the car…’
I asked her to stay in the car and tried to follow him… until he noticed I could take a few pics, when he saw me he started to move faster… I was trying to follow him without knowing him… Mathura and peacock is perfect match… I hope I could find those in Dwaraka too… maybe in my next trip I’ll check those… not now I know that part clearly…
A pretty young guy found out I’m trying to take peacockDSC_4323 (Small) pictures and he was trying to communicate with me… I really couldn’t understand most of it… I was trying to show him the peacock in the view finder and he said the name in Hindi…
I was like ‘yeah yeah am trying to capture…’ and he asked me to follow him… was trying my best to follow him cause he was walking in large plans… at a certain point he started to walk slowly and showing me the signal ‘careful and slow’… I moved very slowly … suddenly a female peacock ran almost over me… shocked me, really… I tried to move away and it was gone… he pointed me there DSC_4289 (Small)were eggs of a peacock… ‘Ohh’ I said ‘Thank you’ and took one or two pics and wanted to go back as soon as possible, I don’t want to disturb the female, didn’t even check DSC_4319 (Small)how the pictures came… all I wanted is move away from there…
I thanked him and asked him to pose for a pic, showed him how it came, he was so happy… we just started moving again…
It looked like a rainy day… clouds formed and we saw the marks of yesterday nights rain… even on the road too.. .We planned to reach Varanasi that day…
Before we have to do a small thing, that’s Anne’s wish… to see Agra… we reached almost at 4 o’ clock in the evening… searching to reach the Taj Mahal…

Roof of the Taj…!!

Anne was saying there is a game called as ‘Levensweg’ which I used to play from childhood… always choose the Taj Mahal to buy as property… I really want to go see… I’m not fond of it myself… I don’t know why, maybe because some personal reason or meaning of love… I never thought to go to the Taj Mahal, it has never been in my preferences…
After Anne said so, I wasn’t able to say no… We wanted to go to Varanasi and look for morning and evening aarati…but… I said ok let’s go find it… The road to the Taj is clearly mentioned in English, a great relief really… we were following all the roads… if you miss one you get a second route to reach it immediately… is really good … like this we can reach the Taj Mahal…
A few km before we need to stop the vehicle and go by walk to reach… because of so many security issues, we didn’t know… we thought like we can park our vehicle in front of it… lol… So, we have to park somewhere and go by walk…
From the parking area we can see its beautiful roof… took a lot of photos, nothing will come if you face it straight… I have seen so many movies showing the Taj Mahal, really so many… most movies here talk about love, they all set frame in the Taj Mahal…
But experiencing straight is different… all the frames of the Taj Mahal which I have seen till now try to show full frame from one view… otherwise it might end up with another building in India… if they don’t show it fully it is hard for me to recognize… but just a roof shows its beauty… When I was showing Anne the roof… I can see something happened to her…
One of her wishes fulfilled… and when we need to park our vehicle and need to walk- I was completely ready- I asked Anne… ‘seems like we may need to stay one day here to see its beauty’… she simply said I just saw the roof it’s enough lets go…
I asked her repeatedly ‘are you sure?’ Because one more day in our trip won’t make any difference… this is the place you were talking about to see and saying saw the roof…’
Before this trip I went to Delhi with Anne to vacate her flat.  Back then she asked me to take the metro to go see Agra… I told her ‘no way I’m not at all interested’… at that time I was busy with vacating her apartment, not in the mood to go…
So I told Anne Iit’s ok if you want we can take one more day’… She said ‘it’s fine we will come back here’… I told her a James Bond title… she was laughing… ‘Tomorrow never dies’…
In Delhi, if they talk about a trip, they show a triangle, whatever tourist comes they only talk about ‘the golden triangle’ which goes Delhi, Jaipur, Agra… once someone came to me, I asked him can we change this triangle to Rishikesh instead of the other two places?… That guy was looking at me like ‘what?’ I said ‘if you compare distance it’s the same so why I need to take the same triangle if it’s called like the way?… You keep it I want Rishikesh added in that triangle… lol… unfortunately that trip didn’t happen…
When we planned this trip Rishikesh was also added… but after the flood problem we cancelled it…
We started moving away from Agra at almost 6 PM… I saw Anne was so happy she saw the roof of Taj… our next destination was Varanasi…

Varanasi still a way to go – Part 1…!!

When we were crossing Agra… traffic made us stand still in front of a Goddess temple, a small one but with beautiful statue, I was trying to take a picture out of the car while telling Anne you can’t take pics in a temple… it’s not allowed… she said ‘ohh why?’
‘Maybe people keep the picture and stop coming to the temple…?’ lol… I laughed… I really don’t know the reason… most of the temples I know it’s prohibited to take pictures… no reason mentioned…
I can see one good reason … if allowed… stupid guys like me would stand there for hours to take pictures, not allowing people to see the god … maybe that’s also a reason I really don’t know why it’s not allowed… Mostly in temples where people gather they follow this rule… If you try to take pictures, they may try to capture your camera itself in the name of god… ‘So careful’ I said… Anne replied me like ‘don’t worry you need to be careful… I rarely touch the camera…’
Sunset started when we are moving to Varanasi… We saw a river crossing… on top of that bridge I asked Anne to stop the car because I want to take a picture of the beautiful view…
Most Indian are aware of ganga snana –snana means taking bath-, they utter the mantra before taking a bath mostly at sunrise… I don’t think these days they take a bath in river uttering the mantra… First line will go like this ‘gangesa yamune saiva’…
When we both stayed in Delhi before, while roaming around, I asked the cab guy ‘please stop I want to see the Yamuna’… He stopped somewhere and said we could see a large part of the river there but nowadays it’s not so clean anymore…
I really wanted to see how the ‘in a mantra second word -yamuna-  looks like… when we were walking there, there was nobody…. I felt sad to see… It seems Yamuna needs a bath more than the people uttering the mantra every day before taking a bath… How can a holy river become ruined like this? I really don’t have a reason… I heard in Koovam,Chennai, Koovam people used to go fishing and do boattrips…  can’t imagine now… How come we lose things like this? I really don’ know…
Indians can make a rocket and send it somewhere to Mars or another planet to check the water there but they hardly think about cleaning the water we have today, right here… Ok many may get angry if I say this is a prestige issue… when our home is ruined, what kind of prestige is needed? When we can’t clean our home, why we need to check others homes? I don’t know, really…
Somewhere I saw Narmatha, don’t know exactly anymore where, it was clean, I guess because of the flood… I didn’t want to see Yamuna this time… I wanted to see Ganga… I hope it will be neat and clean because of the flood… even if it’s dangerous, clean would be great…
Sunset starts while I was walking all over the bridge to take pictures, heavy traffic going on… walked almost till the end… then I noticed a guy… talking to Anne… Anne not showing any interest… in between, 2 guys approached me asking me if I want to take a ride on the river… I said ‘ this time?’… ‘I will come back…’ I said and left… I was walking fast, wanted to know what was happening there…
The guy was showing his address and wanted Anne to drop him there… Anne wasn’t showing any interest at all… lol… that guy saying ‘please drop me there…’, I clearly said ‘sorry, no, we arDSC_4401 (Small)e going somewhere and we don’t know how to reach the address you’re showing us…. Even if I’d have known, I was not in the mood for giving a lift to a stranger… We were both clear in it and moved…
I was asking Anne about the condition of our car and ‘asked her what’s that alternator?’… She was trying to explain me how an alternator works in a car… I was like ohhhh ok, and asked her if it is ok right now… because she had switched on the lights etc… She said ‘fine for now…
Midnight almost passed and we were still driving… I saw a place, kind of truck stop, and asked Anne to stop. Told her ‘stay in the car I’ll go get us a cup of coffee…’ I noticed the guy was selling movie DVD’s in Hindi… he was busy calling… I didn’t want to show him I don’t know Hindi because for sure the price would go up… so was asking him how much in Hindi, a word almost all know I hope… he answered… gave him 500 INR … he had to give exact change now… lol… finally I got a DVD for 15 INR… I was like how come they do business for 15 INR?… I really have no clue…
I asked Anne if she was sure I could play a movie… and she said it should be fine because we’re already driving a few hundred km so the battery should be charged by now… All this trip I didn’t see any movie fully yet… so I decided to play the first one… in Hindi… lol
I couldn’t watch it fully, was hard without subtitles… so switched it off… After a while Anne suddenly said… I’m losingmr black_064 (Small) power again… I asked her ‘what kind of power?’ She said ‘Look!… Lights are not glowing enough…’ I said ‘yes, true…’
She finally said… ‘I’m going to try to switch off and on… maybe it will be ok?… And she did… Luckily at that time we were at the left side end of road … It didn’t switch on again anymore… it was 2 or 3 AM at that time and we were about 15 km away from Kanpur… without any choice we have to wait till the morning…

Varanasi still a way to go – Part 2…!!

Before we go sleep unwanted -we both clearly know we can’t call my TVS-, we searched for some breakdown services on tab and found one … even we are not a member of that company he gave us a number where we can get some help… That’s also Anne who got the number… not me… is her smartness… lol…
We tried the number… no answer… I told Anne ‘no use, we better call early morning so they might help’… and I occupied my backseat…
Almost 8 AM, the sun is too warm -in Coimbatore at 8 AM it will be like ‘can I have 10 more mins sleep?’…but in Kanpur the sun was straightly waking us up- so we couldn’t sleep one more minute… I was checking the neighborhood… ‘where am I?’ I saw a few people walking near ‘Ashok Leyland’ – a truck company- …
Anne woke up before me and said ‘maybe you should go ask them what to do?’ I said ‘ok , let me try…’ There was a guy, I asked him if there is a way to reach a garage? He asked me ‘what happened?’ I said like ‘maybe we’re facing a problem with the battery … right now the car is not starting anymore possibly a problem with the alternator …
He was asking if it is possible to fix? In between I Society Motors… asking him if they service Fiat cars… as well asking him the address… he said ‘might be like 15 km ahead’
Almost at 9 or 9.30 AM I talked DSC_4678 (Small)to the guy who is doing breakdown service… finally he answered our call… told him where we are standing… he said ‘ok, on the way…’ After 30 mins… still nobody… called him again… asking ‘are you coming? ‘yes he said but you will have to pay 2500 INR!’… that made me really angry, believe me … I told him ‘come here!… I’ll pay you once you drop us at the right place…’ he understood my anger and replied ‘bhai.. don’t worry…’ Told him ‘If I say angrily that I’ll pay, I’ll pay…’ I rather prefer him talking about the vehicle then saying bhai so gave him the landmark –Ashok Leyland- and told him ‘make it fast’…
After a while he called me again… asking me which Ashok Leyland…!!! We were both fried and cooked because of the sun… 10 AM and asking where we were… I was above ‘feeling angry’… so told him calmly ‘wait’… ran to the guy standing in front of Ashok Leyland and asked him to explain him how to reach… he gave the exact address and the service guy was again asking if I would pay through this Ashok Leyland guy…Again!… Told him tell him just tell him we broke down and ask him to come quickly – he didn’t know who we are and didn’t want to have a mess because of strangers like us… really helpful-, we will pay him for sure, don’t worry…
That guy told me if he asks 2000 INR it would be normal, I said he already mentioned 2500 INR, it’s fine…
He was suggesting I would go with an auto and come back with a mechanic… I turned back and saw Anne… thinking she won’t feel fine with it… so I asked him what time the service guy said he might arrive here… He was saying they are almost here, they had to go to another place nearby and will arrive in about 15 mins….
I thanked him… he said ‘this is not at all a safe place to stay, a lot of criminals around’… I wasn’t in the mood to interact… I could figure out that this was a real nice guy and fearful because this is not the right place… anything can happen…
But still, this place is too warm… so much industry here… don’t think I could survive here more than a week… I was looking at the people walking and working here… DSC_4514 (Small)maybe they are used to it… maybe if I stay a week I will get used to it to?… convincing myself… lol…
I saw a towing vehicle coming near… this time not ‘dil chata hai’!… he put a rope in between the vehicles and asked Anne to use some gear… Anne freaked out to me … if this happens in her place she has to use first gear…or second… I told ‘relax, we’re moving, I’m happy, just use what you want…’ The guy from Leyland offered me to eat a guava… I couldn’t refuse lol…so eating… going to Society Motors, a TAT service center…

Society Motors Kanpur…!!

DSC_4409 (Small)When the guy dropped us I saw it’s a TATA service center, a year before only TATA did FIAT service… on internet, when I checked service center for FIAT, this one showed up… I told Anne ‘I don’t know what will happen and if they will be able to help us out… all is changed now… let’s see…
Because the battery was down we couldn’t close our windows, the car standing outside… so I asked Anne to stay with the car and went inside with the guy who did the towing… he straightly brought me to the right person, seems he knew them very well… He introduced me and told them what happened…
He came out to and said ‘ ok let’s go check’… he did… told us he’ll send a mechanic… After a while I asked Anne to go and check inside the service center, I would stay with the car and wait… She went inside and came back with a mechanic… I said ‘wow’
She told me that the boss is very generous, he asked a mecanic to fix our car right away and understood our situation very well… She explained him where we come from and where we have to go…
They found the problem in just few minutes… the battery charging holder isn’t tight enough anymore so the battery isn’t charging… They changed the holders, took a new battery and switched on the vehicle. They asked us to keep driving at least 50 km so the battery can charge again… I said ‘don’t worry, we need to go till Varanasi…’ He said ‘pray to God and go…’ I was laughing,pair_020 (Small) and asked him ‘do we have another choice?’ I don’t know if he understood but he laughed as well…
We went in to pay… They gave us a 30 INR bill and the boss didn’t want us to pay… I felt like I wanted to see him… so I called Anne to go meet him and say thank you…
I really wanted to see the person who wanted to help without any reason… and giving the right preference… we really needed to go and they helped us very well…
So we went inside and said hello and thank you… I told him his staff is refusing to receive the amount and asked him to tell us how much we need to pay… He called a guy and told him to receive the 30 INR and provide us a bill! I told him ‘Thanks’ again… I really wanted to keep that bill so I could send them a message after writing this blog… but unfortunately the guy at the cash counter said leave it … so instead asked them a businesscard so I won’t forget the name…
Really a very nice garage, best we’ve experienced till now… fast help, I still feel like saying thank you to them when feeling the thinking back about the incident… he was very decent… India lacks on that part at the moment… all say India is famous for hospitality but hospitality comes with a bill… I mean something expecting behind it
I told Anne ‘Nice hospitality, right?’… she said ‘yes a good guy’… and ‘I need a coke I’m burning…’ lol…

Varanasi…!!

It’s almost evening when we start from Kanpur… the sun made us forget food… When I started feeling hungry, I started to eat a lot of cigis… lol… but we so want to get away from this place… When we wentDSC_4559 (Small) through a level crossing we saw a small truck with broken axes and tire… about 10 feet before us, so we saw it happen very closely… The little truck was carrying much more then what it was capable of so no surprise it broke down… good thing is, it didn’t fall down… Told Anne no worries they’ll fix it fast and continue in the same way as before…
It took us little while reach the Highway… when we started to move we knew very well it was not that far to reach Varanasi…
Varanasi, Kashi and Banaras… it’s called so many names… The holy Ganga is passing through this place… People believe here that if you die you go out fromDSC_4513 (Small) birth… The river never gets dry, it captures the water during monsoon and in summer it gets the ice water coming from Himalayas…
So Shiva seems to be like this river and he kept it in his hair… it’s a kind of symbol that Shiva is holding the Ganga in his hair… I was thrilled to see the Ganga and was reading the news… That didn’t make me happy at all… flood at Ganga river…
It’s also an important place for me to see… I was explaining Anne all about it and she got very interested to… How the place maintained, how Aarathi maintained and the importance of that place for spiritual seekers… mostly Hindus want to reach DSC_4556 (Small)there at least once a lifetime…
Ganga is also important for clearing your karma… When I was attending a course my guru was explaining about water… its memory is proven by science… I got so interested when he was talking about ‘water has a memory’…
He was saying it isn’t always good to drink water immediately from the pipe… mostly it is dangerous because it contains memory… so many things… after that part he started talking about rivers… and it was very clear to me which river he was talking about…
The river touches the holy Yogis and Saints and it comes to the ground… and it’s memory is filled up with it… Himalaya is a place which is known for so many enlightened persons… long ago you could even find an enlightened one in each and every street in Kashi…
So water having this kind of memory can easily clear your karma… so far Ganga is known for ‘clearing sins’… so all Hindus want to save money to go there and dip themselves in the water to get clearance of their karma… getting away from the cycle…
So i was like I really want to go see how the river looks like and… how to dip myself… maybe my sins will also be cleared?… I don’t know what kind of sins I made but still I believe I’ve made some… don’t want to think about the details, I just want to follow… that speech of him and as well tradition was enough for me to follow instead of thinking about what sin I have made…. Lol… I want to know what I want… like most here…
But… the flood made us sad… we reached Varanasi at almost 10 PM…
I wasn’t able to go for the next day morning Aarathi said someone… because of … the flood… they do it in the top of the ghat… better to come next time and enjoy… that made me feel like at least I want to go see the Ganga…
The water level was way too high, it came almost to the top – where people can bath I hope-, many people filling water bottles, to take back home… I wanted to go down and touch the water…
When I was looking at Anne she said ‘not coming, you carry on…’ I touched the water, took a little and put it on top of my head and splashed little on Anne… she was laughing like I was playing… told her ‘it’s kind of tradition’… lol…

Dhanbad…!!

We both decided to go to Kolkata to meet a mutual friend… a bro to me… and in between, we decided to go see Bodh Gaya… I told Anne ‘it’s the place where Buddha got enlightened so we should see… We were almost not going to Sarnath… because Kolkata is more than 700 kilometer from Varanasi…
We had to start very early knowing that reaching in one stretch is almost impossible… so we decided according to the road, where we’d take a stop… I was telling Anne it will really be DSC_4633 (Small)though if the car breaks down in Bihar or Jharkhand… but we don’t have a choice, we need to cross both states to reach Kolkata leaving from Varanasi…
From the beginning of the trip I’ve been telling Anne that all our complete route is fine except crossing those 2 States which might be worse… so far the news we can read… and so many other things I‘ve heard about it… but nevertheless we want to give it a try…
The National highway from Varanasi to Kolkata… I should say… one of the best… we both started to enjoy the nature… and I started questioning myself why the news is showing Bihar like this… the place is completely filled with green… maybe it’s because we’re not going inside DSC_4646 (Small)the place, just keeping safe on the Highway…?
Buddha got enlightened here and so many spiritual places in and around, how come a place like this can be so violent…? A few months ago there occurred a bomb blast in Bodh Gaya… Told Anne about it… She said ‘wonderful…’
But… we want to go see Buddha’s enlightened place no matter what… when we were on the way it started to rain as well… We were enjoying the green environment with the rain… people trying to sell corn at the roadside trying to hide under umbrella’s looked really cute…
We started to like DSC_4651 (Small)Bihar… my only problem was… finding my brand of cigis in a roadside shop… seemed impossible… we reached Bodh Gaya pretty early so I checked the map if we could reach another place… we could come back here when we return from Kolkata… We decided we are going to comeback this way because there is no other option unless you want to go through coastal Andhra… at that time not a good idea because there was a problem with Telegana… so we decided not to go that way, even we wanted to go check Hyderabad…
The nearest, next destination I could find is Dhanbad, about 300 km away from Kolkata…
We both don’t have any of our friend’s contact info but still we decided to go… almost 1500 km back and front… we took the chance to go… I messaged him through a common channel that we’re on the way…
We reached Dhanbad… but our internet connection went down a lot so no possibility to catch him online… I had no choice then send him an offline message saying ‘we reached Dhandbad and mentioning we would probably reach Kolkata tomorrow evening… So please get in touch with us…’ I also attached my phone number…
The next day we started moving… without any news from him… but we felt like let’s go… sent him few more offline messages… and suddenly the car wiper stopped working… It was raining… I was asking the car ‘what else you have in mind?’ We couldn’t moven the rain was to heavy… One stage Anne got down, took the blade away from the wiper, kept it on the dashboard and now and then she wiped away the water using the blade with her hand… It was like gosh what kind of vehicle we are driving… lol… I said ‘ we will fix it when we reach Kolkata, not here’… almost 4 PM we reached… to early… ‘Let’s go to Ramakrishna Ashram? I really wanna see that place…’ She said ‘all fine…’

Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Ashram

We arrived before the ashram opened his doors… parking was outside… so we parked the car and started walking… I asked Anne ‘What are we going to do if he doesn’t contact us?’… ‘Let’s see’ she said…
We entered the holy Ashram. In the beginning there was a small museum showing the history of Ramakrishna and his disciples… We saw them keeping intact so many things Ramakrishna used during his life… There was a big statue of Swami Vivekanata statue and Paramahamsa s wife called as Sarada Devi.
We were enjoying to see a biography explained in another way… maybe it’s not all but it’s enough to know a person… really nicely made… the Ashram is trying hard tries to keep it intact…
The Ashram is located in the banks of Hooghly… I think it was very lively in the 18th century… I was thinking about this place… now it’s fully crowded and how it might have looked on back then… with Ramakrishnana Paramahamsa and his great disciples…
I thought ‘this place could have made people get enlightened very easily’ At the banks of the Ganges, really a perfect place for an Ashram… We went to meet Matha. First she showed her Dharshan with a beautiful laugh in the picture… from there we moved to Ramakrishna’s temple… so many people looking at him without blinking their eyes, maybe talking to him through mind… telling him their problems or asking him what they need?… asking Ramakrishnan what he wants to show, some mercy?… A few don’t want to be disturb by the surroundings… so I don’t want disturb them either.
We saw interesting place where Vivekanada stayed when he was in the ashram… the room and books he read… really made me feel lively… as well for Anne too… she wasn’t only following me she looked around… I can see her completely calm… enjoying the place a lot…
Another room, where Vivekanada got Samathi -a symbol of aum is mentioned under it- and where the rest of Paramahamsa’s direct disciples got samathi too – a place for cremation of the body using fire- , next to his Samathi place…
Very few people still won’t let Yogis and Saints get away, even they’re gone away from this world… still they bown down and treat them as God… Paramahamsa is one of them… I saw a long queue waiting… I didn’t know what was going on in there and I didn’t even know how to ask…
I don’t know… people might speak Hindi or Bengali or both… Whatever, I noticed there was a board mentioning about ‘the happenings’ inside so I went there and tried reading… A disciple from the Ashram came to me… I asked him what’s going on in there and he said it’s Dharshan time for Gurji…
I was like ‘oh, yes lets go see him…’ Me and Anne approached the queue and I told Anne… ‘you need to go in that queue’… She asked me ‘what rubbish is this? So I explained her they keep a separate queue for gents and women… so please go stand there…
After 10 minutes we met him -he looked really old-, bowed down to him and came out… someone was offering a kind of sweet… I took a few and when Anne came out I asked her to try a few too…
We went back to the book stall and I told Anne that our friend, the one we are going to meet, likes him a lot… ‘We better buy books for him’… Anne said ‘yeah, good idea…’ We still didn’t have any details, but we bought him the books… belief is really strange at times…

Meeting a friend…!!

I almost lost all my hope… In the evening I told Anne that if we don’t get reply before tomorrow morning we have no choice then going back … She accepted … Suddenly I received a call… it’s him! He said he has been so busy and wasn’t able to receive my message… ‘Thank God, I got you on call now!’ he said… I told him ‘We should say…’ lol…
Our complete surroundings became very happy… and… forgot to say kolkata was really filled with lot of cake shops and nice sweet shops..i was enjoying cakes and sweets there..
Next day we both wanted to fix the wipers of the car… I don’t think I need to explain the importance of wipers during monsoon…? was clear to us… so we were searching again for a Fiat garage… The GPS gave us some kind of zigzag road… we almost got stuck in a very small road… and guy was asking us to go reverse to get his way… when Anne was trying to go back there was a big hole in the road… she said very strongly ‘I ‘m not going back anymore… if he can let him go…DSC_5176 ‘ they understood and moved … Anne took the straight way… there were Dharga people all around doing their afternoon prayer… we found out why we couldn’t go straight…
Suddenly Anne saw a mechanic shop at the left side… she said ‘this kind of small shop will fix it much better than a big service center…’ I said ‘ok, I may give it a try…’ and went to talk to a guy standing inside the mechanic shop… He said ‘we can do, for sure!’ He fixed the wiper, in no time he added a new blade…
Anne, little curious, asked me can’t they fix the belt properly? So, asked them ‘is it possible to fix the belt…? He said ‘off course we can, we only need half a day’… ’ok, fine’ I said and Anne was asking me how much it would come to do so… he gave us a reasonable price… so we both said ‘ok, we can stay another day…but make sure you DSC_5181fix it properly…’ He said they would give the car back next day afternoon… I received a call from our friend and he said he was going home early and invited us there… We thought we’d be going in evening and we had plenty of time to buy something for the rest of his family… but… he called us immediately! We decided to go fast fast to a mall… We found Big Bazaar on the way and got in, asking them for a nice saree? Answer was ‘no’… ok… ‘dhoti?’… same answer… ‘no’… I was like ok fine, we have no time to waste…
Finally we set GPS to his home and started moving… in between I wanted to buy some sweets but the roads are not familiar here… Normally, if they block the first right on the road, the second one will be open, as well a left will be available or at least a next one… but here… none… road is fully blocked in the middle not leaving DSC_4937any gap or boards saying no right U-turn allowed… we couldn’t follow anymore… only after some km we got back on the right track…
We almost forgot about the sweet and we can’t go another 10 km to get the turn… finally we reached his home by following his guidance step by step…
There he lives… with his wonderful mom and dad… what a great family… we shared a cigi and had a real nice time…

Dharga road garage…!!

‘It seems we are going to see garages all over India’ I said… ‘seems so’ replied Anne… those young guys said they can fix it in half a day so that means we can go… Anne complained DSC_4826 (Small)about the headlight at the left side, it’s not working properly… so asked them if they can add fog lamps somewhere… They told us they could but unfortunately they found a fancy looking one looking like LED… I doubted if it would satisfy… Anne believed it might help so I felt fine with it …
They checked everything, even cleaned the car without asking… as well they fixed the belt… unfortunately we saw the heat level going up in the dashboard panel… tey were testing wit full acceleration, smoke everywhere… We both noticed and showed the mechanic…
The problem was, we filled oil in Indore and afterwards completely forgot about it… didn’t check or refill… so now the car was running almost without oil… The mechanic didn’t check either… heat gone up… so we asked them please fill up the oil and check… so they did … but … the heat level still wasn’t going down, so there we were both unaware of what to do next…
After a while they filled coolant liquid and checked again… all seemed ok… we happily received our car back… but… after driving a few DSC_4518 (Small)kilometers Anne suddenly pulled over the car… she showed me the heat level and said ‘ we have to go back’…
It was almost evening at that time and we went back to the garage, showing them the heat level and loss of power… they took the car back and asked us to come back next day afternoon…
It was really hard talking and explaining to them… the people in the other garages where we went to before understood some English… even here to they tried their best… and we tried ours…
Suddenly they found a solution… they called one of the elders, he came near… he asked me in Tamil ‘ What’s the problem’ I was like , wow, great to see you… and told him the problem… he was giving the translation to those guys…
DSC_4918I was telling Anne… finally we found an interpreter…
The old one was talking about his life and how come he settled in Kolkata…
It was a funny moment, suddenly they found someone who can help both of us easily… They were asking us to come the next day in the afternoon and off course we agreed and went away… leaving the car behind…
When we came back the car was ready… they told us that the sensor is not working and that’sDSC_4926 probably the problem why we are losing power so they disabled it… That was the worst mistake they made… at that time we didn’t know yet it was a mistake… just cursing the sensor ‘all this because of you!’… and started to move…
I wanted to see the Kali temple before going out of Kolkata…
The GPS said it’s on our way so we decided to stop by and visit the temple… The entrance was very hard to find… it said Kali temple but we didn’t know where to park the car… maybe we had to take a turn somewhere…. At that time we just received the vehicle and we were so exhausted with the ‘tempature’problem…
I told Anne ‘Let’s go… we will come back here another time for sure’… she said yes you’re right and moved to the middle of the flyover and… lost power again… the car broke down… We called the mechanic and told him we broke down, they send us the towing truck… we were both exhausted and mad…
Next to the garage there was a tree and we were happily sitting under it… a water pipe next to it which I opened to wash my face… they saw me trying to get water and sent a boy with ice water in a bottle… I said thank you, I m just trying to wash my face… washed it with ice water … what a relief…
After they’ve been checking the car for a while they came back to us and said the engine’s head gasket is gDSC_4802 (Small)one and they need to check the engine head as well… will take at least 2 full days…
At that time I started checking blogs about Fiat Palio… and found an interesting one… a guy from Chennai called Vasanth answered about all kind of problems you could imagine… he even gave his contact number…
I messaged him describing him the problem we were facing with our car… he was mentioning about the same problem in his blog… I gave the phone to Anne because I have no knowledge about the car… he started to explain what to do part by part… and I didn’t know what to do …
Anne tried explaining him the same and she said he’s really explaining all but now we need a solution…
He asked us to parcel the car because it has to be fixed properly, if we don’t it will lead to a lot more problems… we felt the same too… but we can’t end our trip like this!… we had a dilemma…
The garage guys said they can fix it in 2 days… we said ‘ok fine’… ‘do’
I told Anne 2 things… ‘ We should have know Vasanth before… then our car would have been fixed before going for this trip and… if the car is fixed… we are going to the Kali temple’… she said ‘yeah’… Our friend was asking us about our journey… we told him we’re not going out of Kolkata yet… lol… he asked us to come over and we came up with the idea to cook at his home the next day…
His mom is a master cook, she cooked a wonderful meal for us so we decided to cook for them now and we were both fully ready for the task! …

Cooking day…!!

Life is really strange sometimes, I couldn’t believe myself… today… we will be here and cook for everyone… I only know about cooking a few South Indian dishes… I’m prepared to do so… If a competition in cutting vegetables would happen Anne would surely win… she cuts veggies so fast!…
We decided to cook rice, dhall, vegetable biryani as well as potato and papad… bro was happy, helping us with a few things… We didn’t let anyone enter the kitchen… I forgot to explain about bro and his passion… I never saw how a scientist room looks like… when I entered his room it was easy to guess… a person with really a variety of interests – electronics, master coder, designer… and off course a musician with excellent knowledge of sanscrit… the list will go on and on… -, but… he preffered to live a simple and peaceful life…
With all his talents he could have reached extreme heights no matter what field… but he said he’s not interested in business, he just likes to help others… He’s my teacher as well… tried helping me out with coding… Allthough I have a distracting mind and forget things easily so couldn’t keep all in mind… he never felt bad or never hesitated to repeat… no matter how many times I asked he teached me the same simple thing freshly…
When we almost finished cooking, I was whispering to Anne ‘ a cigi would be great…’ lol… She was laughing… I couldn’t go out in between frying… busy…
Finally, we announced the food was ready… I found out I forgot to buy biryani powder and as well I forgot to add… last minute bro gave me a powder which I added… Told them take little biryani and eat rice, dhall and all the rest please… I was hurrying to go to our friends room and asked him a cigi… he laughed and gave me one..
His mom came to his room and I kept the cigi secretly away…standing like I wasn’t interested at that time, focused on the road… she moved… said ‘it is time to start eating’… First we served bro and his father , his mom didn’t want to start until me and Anne started – she never starts eating before her guests-, seems they liked the dhall…
DSC_4960After lunch I asked bro if we could go out for a walk… we went out, cigi in hand… He was saying one of his friend is a famous astrologer who used to come to Chennai… ‘oh nice’ I said… not noticing Anne’s eyes opening wide… she asked’ wen he comes here?’… ‘ Can he read mine?’ I was laughing and bro said ‘ oh sure, let me check with him if he’s available…’ Luckily he could come over the next day…
The next day bro introduced us DSC_5019‘the astrologer’… it was the day when Krishna is born and he was busy with some rituals… We all introduced ourselves and attended the rituals… Ours friends mom came to us and said ‘Maybe because of this you got delay’ and she left…
He almost finished all rituals during afternoon, he did the pooja very well… This time we had a very nice lunch his mom made…lol…
After a while the astrologer took his laptop while pointing at bro and saying he’s his guru… bro said he’s joking but he said seriously he’s my first, bro and his family helped him etc…
He started to predict Anne’s… He said ‘ Soon you’re going to be a millionaire’… I was DSC_5142so happy I’m her businesspartner… I said seems I don’t need to do anything if she becomes millionaire… me too…lol… He continued his predictions, Anne was amazed… he did very well… almost all correct…
I got blessings from the whole family… Our car was about ready with the necessary struggles… we took it for a testdrive late night… Anne was happy… she said now the car is really running different… so we decided to start moving early morning…

1649…!!

We started early morning and anne said ‘this time we’re going to do the pooja thing with our car in kali temple’… lol… I laughed… She’s saying this at each and every temple on the way… I said ‘yeah we’ll see’, and this time Anne was so serious… I thought can’t escape… so I said ‘ok for sure we will do in the Kali temple’.
This time we found the right turn to reach the entrance and unfortunately it was not easy to find a spot to park… Suddenly a guy appeared in front of us, saying there is parking over there… in a very small street…. I was thinking ‘is this a parking spot?’… Didn’t know those guys are a kind of agents from God… lol…
I told Anne ‘this is not a car parking, maybe they will ask us to buy something or charge something to park’… We came out of the car and… they showed us pooja items for the car… I asked ‘how much?’… he said ‘200 INR’… I was not at all in the mood to pay… so he was saying pay when you come back… he was showing bangles for kali and a bunch of other things… without asking us anything he started filling the basket…
I’m used to going to temples with friends or alone… I don’t want to be disturbed, I go with selective friends if I go to a temple… even I hardly go with my family… those guys were trying to show us the temple, I was like why are you coming with us? He didn’t want to leave us alone, seemed we were his morning breakfast!…
I saw a group of people standing in a queue to meet Devi, they refused to wait in the queue and took us somewhere where you can see her at long distance… They didn’t want to show us nearby… they wanted to finish their business very fast, which is not what we asked for…
They asked us… ‘seen?’… ‘up to the next’… again asked us ‘seen?’… again to the next… I was like oh god… told Anne these guys are really making me angry…
Even it was a bit far away we could see Devi clearly…
We had our Dharshan, our only prayer was making sure we reach safely… lol…
They took us to a Shiva Linga opposite to the Devi shrine… there was a flower on the top of it… that guy just ook it and asked me to show my neck… I really got utmost angry… for 200 INR they were going to make me equal to Shiva? If I give 200 more you goanna take the full shrine and put it in our car?… at second thought I felt like I need it to put it in our car… so I accepted it and took it in my hand…
We entered in a place where they offer Devi bangles… those guys want us to put the bangles there but don’t want us to stay more than a minute… in between they called someone, kind of priest, asking Anne to repeat what he says…
Anne said ‘no’… I told him ‘leave it’ … The guy was complaining I said no to all… I felt like I should have said no to the parking there to…
Finally we found out why they want to make sure we are leaving the place fastly… they want to take back the bangles… suddenly the guy with the bangels… gone… we had no choice then come out of the temple…
In that store he took amr black_063 (Small) small copper post with Ganga water –I hope-… asking us to stand straight to the east side… I said ‘no’… He still didn’t want to leave us alone… he wanted us to do what he wants… asking us to say our family members names etc… I told him ‘your store is not a temple’… finally he finished all his things…
I was ready to give him his 200 rupees!… instead he gave us a bill of 1649 INR!!!
I was thinking… how come one rupee missing?… why he can’t count?… lol… good business… he totally spend 10 minutes and didn’t even let us stay peacefully, coming back… and asking us this amount!?…
I asked him ‘why the hell I need to pay this amount?’ He said… need to pay the charge of the priest… 1000 INR… I asked ‘him which priest?’ I was not going to pay anything… told him no problem ‘I’m going to the police’… He was stunned… he said ‘ok, fine, how much you want to pay?’ Told him 200 INR… as you asked us before we went in… He got 250 INR and we started to leave…
I was completely angry, Anne noticed and said ‘calm down’… I said ‘How can I calm down?’… ‘This place is ruled by Devi and there are cheaters around… ‘ This is how most of the places became?… How come a temple premises became like this?… I really don’t know… Those guys were acting like they know all and cheating…
This is why religion lost a lot… the science in it became laughfull… They are using their knowledge for their own… we can say so much about it… they don’t like to share their knowledge, they found out its power and they divided… when they doing this kind of science for their own… it won’t give the proper result… because they are not at all focused, only on what they get back… it dies there… now the knowledge lost its power in humans… a knowledge never lost power… who will lose it will lose…
I was in complete anger and took a cigi… asking Anne ‘better stop in a shop and have a cup of coffee’… she agreed and pulled over in a place to settle ourselves…
Before I put the flowers from the Kali temple in the car, I put a special cloth around the mirror…
I was smiling when I saw it from outside… still both of them are in the car… I don’t know how come the flower lasts this long… every day I check on it… it’s still there … maybe few more days … or more…
We left… almost in the evening we reached Bodh Gaya…

Bodh Gaya…!!

DSC_5593 (Small)Buddha, mostly known by all in this world -no use to tell about him- … but… I was standing there at the place where he attained what he wanted… and a tree … very well known as well as Buddha… called Bodh Gaya…
When my guru was talking about Buddha, he mentioned that he took all the possibilities to reach enlightenment… like normal sadhu or yogi who follow the route through being a living person so they can fulfill their necessities like food and sleep… Buddha refused all, he took the hardest route you can imagine… to reach enlightenment…
One day there was a lake, he didn’t even have the energy to reach it but he tried to cross the lake completely and sat down under a tree… saying ‘I die or I know something’…
After that explanation I always wanted to see the spot where Buddha sat… We were there in almost early morning… I didn’t care about what happened earlier here… in India it’s normal, they don’t care about whatever happened, after the incident a few weeks ago, time passes and all comes back to normal…DSC_5392 (Small)
I saw almost each and every country owns a temple, this place comes under UNESCO, I don’t know the exact meaning of it… try to google it… I was asking Anne ‘International property?… If I want to go visit an UNESCO place for example in the USA –if there is one-, is it possible?… like here now, people coming to India to see?…’ She said ‘I don’t know’… I don’t know either but even if there is a place I don’t think it will be easy… they check for peoples bank balance… ‘in Europe too right?’… I asked Anne… She said ‘I really have no idea’… Then it’s good this place is located in India… most of the time India is harmless for tourists… the won’t ask you what if you run away?… We both started laughing… and entered the temple…
At the entrance we feel the security level is higher, even 2 km before we reached the temple we saw a check post…
They strictly don’t allow mobile phones… I asked Anne to surrender her tab… phonenumbers inside are mostly mine … lol…
We both didn’t have much time to think so just gave… got a slip and hurried inside… It was really beautiful because of the last rainy days… everything was shining and the climate was wonderful…

DSC_5526 (Small)
We entered the temple and I saw Shiva Linga first… a guy was doing the poja… I tried to take pics… of course … the camera was not allowed inside and no cell phones…
I saw the beautiful Buddha Statue which was covered with a nice orange and red combo cloth… I was very happy to stay there for a while… We were both standing there for a while and came back out…
I saw a lot of trees in and around… we both wanted to know which is ‘the bodhi’ tree… When we started walking we saw a small tree with closed fence around it… ‘maybe this one?’… We approached there and it’s mentioned Buddha sat under this tree the 7th day after he got enlightened… So we both said, not this one… We started roaming around, discovering the beauty of the place… the structure was awesome…
Finally we saw a tree, his branches were supported so they can’t fall down… or maybe because of another reason… I really have no idea… We wanted to reach there asap…
A huge tree with lots of brances… a board mentioning this tree’s ancestor was the actual bodhi tree, and the story about the actual one…DSC_5501 (Small)

We were both standing there for a long time and I didn’t see any leaf to pic up… the monks keep cleaning… and I don’t want to pick a leaf so I was saying to Anne ‘ a single leaf to keep with us would be great’…

Suddenly we noticed something fell down… a small beautifull leaf…

From the cleDSC_5523 (Small)aning woman we got a small branch off the tree…

Happily we started to come out… this place is really a lifetime experience… if you want to see a spiritual, mythical and architectural place this one should be one your list…. That’s how we felt…When we came out, we received back the tab and Anne checked… missing calls… missed calls.. I just started calling the numbers back…
A friend of mine, picking up… asking me … ‘where are you?’… telling him ‘Bodh Gaya’… He told he’s going to get engaged next week and invited me to come over…I was thinking about our travelschedule… Going to be hard to reach in time, seems we lack 2 days… He said ‘stupid, come and reach’… I told him ‘ok fine, we’ll try’…
Told Anne ‘it seems le we need to rush our trip…I need to go to a function’… When I was telling her all seriously, she said ‘wow a function in India… I’ve never seen one… lets go…’ She seemed happy, I kept my seriousness with me… lol…

Rajasthan…!!

From Bodh Gaya we took 2 days to reach Varanasi to Kanpur and from Kanpur we decided to go visit Ujjain… in Kanpur there was a beautiful lake DSC_5723 (Small)with nice flowers, even too much sun I asked Anne to pull over and take a few snaps…
In the evening, at Kanpur, we decided to go reach Ujjain… it almost became dark, the road seemed to be empty, time by time filling up with cows… it was hard to make them move but we managed…
Suddenly we both noticed something very big was sitting in the middle of the road… Anne switched of the headlights… a giant owl… I told Anne ‘come on switch on the lights I want to take a picture… ‘ Normally when you put light on them they won’t move… our headlights weren’t enough… Anne tried to switch on our funny fog lamp set…
That big owl moved… I got down from the car, running behind it… it was flying to the left but we couldn’t even recognize where it went… I came back and said ‘ now you know why I need bright lights’… She laughed and started moving again… almost before morning we both felt sleepy…
When I opened my eyes again… Anne was driving… as usual… asked her ‘where are we?’… she said ‘ I don’t know exactly… following the map…
I woke up… and saw a diversion ahead… road works…
A guy who took a U-turn in front of us told us where to go… in Hindi… unfortunately none of us both could understand… I was checking the GPS… it showed Rajasthan border… Kota I think… we need to reach Ujjain… but we can’t follow this way…
Another test ahead… mr black_034 (Small)I was fully awake… at that time Anne stopped at a level cross, I came in front from the back seat to check my settings… lol… As per our GPS there was no route in between… ‘what kind of map is this?’ I asked Anne…
She said ‘don’t know, let’s go check’… We almost reached inner side of Rajasthan with the typical villages, in and around lots of birds….
When there was a small water flowing… I was asking Anne to stop… ‘let’s brush’… I started checking around… Anne was looking around the spot, I didn’t see a brush in her hand… asked her ‘What happened?’ ‘It slipped away on the ground…’ she said… ‘ oh, so what, I’ll take it and go clean it for you… ‘ she said no no no … I have another one, leave it… I said ‘I don’t know the cost at your place, here I know… so are you sure?… she said ‘fine’….
I walked to the water, roaming around a bit… in between I saw a kingfisher sitting on a branch… I tried to follow it… I read in a blog about birds that they mostly keep 4 to 5 spots to sit so if you are carefull … they might use the same spots… When the kingfisher was in its 4th spot, I believe it was 4th… pretty far away from the car… not sure where I was waltiny on stone_015 (Small)king… in mud or lake?… just walking and trying to get a nice shot… I even started complaining to the birds…’ come on I won’t eat you, just smile please’… if he goes to his 5th spot I know very mrs green_030 (Small)well I can’t reach… I went back…
When we were driving again I saw a bird constructing its nest, asked Anne to pull over and without knowing, I took a few snaps of it… when it came to know it started moving… We moved a little further and I saw a lot of them making a nest… I asked Anne to pull over under the tree, I saw large plants… If you sit under it nobody can see you… I remained there peacefully and tried to take pics as much as I could, enjoying the birds activities… I started to doubt if Anne noticed I was sitting under the plants… I came out and asked her to start moving again…
We faced the worst road of our whole trip… even Kerala is way better compared to this… the road was nothing but bumps… It’s very hard for Anne to choose which is mr black_059 (Small)safe… and we’re driving and driving… on the way we saw a truck who got stuck in a bump, people trying to get it out…
Suddenly there was a flyover ‘under construction’… we both were like ‘what?’… I got out and asked the construction guys… they showed we had to go around… We went inside the village… there seemed to be a function going on… We had no clue how to reach… I asked someone, he showed us there is a riverside with not much water… mr black_036 (Small)you have to go through…
I said ‘ok fine’… but Anne didn’t start moving… I asked her ‘go?’ She showed me 3 small trucks standing… she told me look there… a truck already got stuck… ‘I’m not going she said’… I couldn’t stop laughing… It wasn’t stuck… they were cleaning it… She looked more carefully and decided to go…
But… before we went down to the water… a police jeep came in front… I asked Anne to give them some way… but she said there is enough way they can go, I’m not going to take reverse…
They gave signal to stop… we stopped… a guy came out and enquired Anne.. She was only answering this time… He asked us where we are going and where we are coming from… she answered and asked him ‘is there any problem?’… He said ‘no problem at all’… She said ‘thank you, and can you maybe help us with how to reach Ujjain?… He told her…We moved down to the river and crossed…
On the way, a big beautiful river was mr black_037 (Small)passing by and I asked Anne to stop because I noticed there were a lot of kingfishers roaming around… Beautifully flying… time for their dinner… before the flying away_022sunset we saw so many birds… I told Anne I have to be there for 2 days… don’t think we take the diversion next time but… a beautiful place… so many birds nests… even a kingfishers’… living on the wall of the river…

Ujjain…!!

We weren’t able to find food at the border of Rajasthan… now there were shops and I saw one was selling samosa so asked Anne to stop… I went to buy 4 and bottle of coke and water… I took a single bite and couldn’t eat more… it was spice like hell… but Anne was DSC_6199 (Small)eating without any problem… I said to Anne ‘I know you like spicy but believe me this is not good for your health’… lol… I gave her the remaining samosa’s … luckily we had bananas and water…
We almost freaked out with the road and were waiting to reach the same Highway we took before to drive all the way back… at one stage there were two rocks on the road -what I mean with road is sand with rocks buried inside-… Anne had a doubt ‘move through or not ?’ I got down and told her to come more forward, slowly, suddenly the car bumper got stuck with a rock, it hit the car at the bottom… mr black_035 (Small)a guy suddenly asked Anne to come down… he told us so many vehicles get stuck here… he said he can drive through… He asked Anne to get down and he drove those 10 meters… Anne was saying ‘it’s my mistake I thought I could manage to go through…’
Told her ‘it’s ok we are driving without other problems, the rest is normal…’ ‘yeah but I could have stopped instead of continue driving’ she replied… ‘it’s fine, ok don’t worry’… after a long time we saw another place with a lot of shops… I almost had to go check 5 to find my brand… and finally got it, bought, and as well water and coke…
This time Anne really became a coke monster… lol… she started drinking coke and Pepsi due to the temperature… she said she never had this much of it in her entire life… told her ‘now you do’… lol…
We found the highway in the late evening, little happy with it except the small problem with the bumper… I was asking Anne ‘is it ok?… car drives fine?’… she said ‘yeah is going good…’
We both were completely tired and I saw a board saying some 40 to 50 km to reach Ujjain… but Anne wasn’t able to drive anymore… she was stopping the car every 5 km saying she needs a break… I understand her… DSC_4438 (Small)if this same situation happened some 100 plus km before we both could have parked the car and slept… but now we are almost reached Ujjain…
Each and every 5 km she had sleep 10 to 15 mins… and when it came to 20 to 30 km more she started to lose her steering… she started sleeping while driving… when I saw the car going automatically to the wrong direction the first time I noticed she’s sleeping…DSC_4403 (Small) woke her up and asked her ‘what you doing?’…
she said ‘yeah I’m tired’… luckily no one except us on the road… so I was talking and talking to her… she couldn’t miss steering… and time by time taking rest… almost 30 km took 3 hours to reach … that much tired she was and of course me too…
Almost 4 AM in the morning we reached Ujjain…

Shirdi

In the morning I asked Anne if she was sure she had enough rest… She said ‘yeah, as much as I needed’… ‘I hope you won’t lose steering now… lot of vehicles are running on the road…’ She laughed and asked me ‘to the temple now?’
I told her it is almost midday so the temple might be closed which means we need to wait till 4 or 5 PM to open again… We will have to come back here… we have a function to attend… She laughed and said ‘ok then’… As per our idea we go back all the way we came but instead of Kerala we go straight to Chennai from Karnataka…
We decided to go to Pune following the NH47… good road, we can reac our destination… not like the roads we experienced the last days… We filled up the car with all items we needed… cookies, fruit, water… I didn’t want to take any risk…
I still remember in a town, I was looking for food… a guy gave me something using his left hand… I wasn’t able to eat… most Indians will understand what I mean… even my mind said the opposite… I couldn’t eat… I threw away the items… Anne still don’t know about this… lol…
So I wanted to make sure all items packed for in case of emergency… we had enough… we were almost reaching home and we were ready for the trip… lol… really funny…
When we were driving, we noticed the road shows almost Pune and Shirdi… same distance… We had bought a lot of maps before we started the trip… I opened the map and showed Anne… maybe we take this way, from here to Maharashtra, Karnataka border… then we will reach Chennai easily…
Anne said ‘all fine for me …’ So we wanted to reach Shirdi… in between I want to see another beautiful place… around midnight we reached Shirdi…
Next day morning… like 10 AM I asked Anne to go to the temple so we can make things faster and go back…
She said ‘ok’… but when I saw the temple I didn’t know its kind of small tirupati… a lot of people come here to see him… it was a shock to me… I felt like wow its’s beautiful… I started to enjoy more… but we don’t have much time to stand in the queue… so we both took the other way to see in and around the temple… There is a place with a mirror to see the statue… I saw and I showed toblack and white_024 (Small) Anne to… She was happy to see him to… We took a glimps at his museum, learned a little about his life there… such a umble and godlike person, who helped so many people… I was speechless… Anne was showing there is a store… we went in to check… bought a few items coming from the temple… I said ‘I wanna come back to this place’ Anne was laughing and said ‘we need to repeat our trip’… I said ‘yes!… for sure!’… but we need to take more time and… another car…
We missed so many nice places…
We came out of the temple … I used to watch serials about him on vijay TV, few ones I noticed, once there was another one who used to come, I didn’t know him… I went to a shop to buy a coke and cigis and I saw his picture on a bag… asked the guy there who he is … he said swami Samarth… he’s from Karnataka… I thanked him and told Anne… ‘so we’re going to Karnataka border, called Solapur’…
When we came back, sitting in front of a coffeeshop, the guy from the store was searching me… he was relieved to see us and gave me 400 INR, told me I forgot to receive… I told him many thanks… and asked him ‘his ashram is in Solapur, right?’… He said ‘yes’…
The car started to give a bad sound again and Anne was complaining about the gear… I asked her… ‘only gear’?… She said ‘I can’t use 2nd and 5th gear anymore… like in the beginning… the rest is still fine…’
I asked her ‘ are you sure we can reach?’… She said ‘it’s fine… for now… only a gear problem… ‘ To reach Solapur we need to take a State Highway… There I noticed a deer crossing by… being chase by dogs…
I got mad… asked Anne mr black_054 (Small)to hit the breaks… was almost searching for a rock to throw at the stupid dogs… hunting a deer…
Of course… it’s nature and moreover people who own the land keep dogs and train them to catch them possibly… The deer were gone away from sight and the wolf like dog was chasing very fast… I asked Anne to move more… Suddenly I said ‘Anne, look over there’… so may deer standing in the middle of the road… I tried to capture them but the light was very poor… they started walking… tried to follow… even had to cross a house… I saw the place was going much more deeper so I came back…. When I returned a woman was scolding me , showing the dog… maybe a dangerous one… but he was calm … I couldn’t understand what she was saying… so came back to the car…

Solapur

When we almost reached Solapur we noticed a heavy rain coming up… and Anne wasn’t able to drive properly… I asked her ‘are you sure we can drive?’ I checked internet for a the nearest place with Fiat garage, ‘if necessary we go there’ I said.. Anne said ‘no, tell me the nearest place, it’s the safest option’… I told her ‘then we need to go to Solapur it’s only 5 km away from here…’
She saidmr black_056 (Small) ‘all the gear is very though to handle, we can’t do much…’ so we want to reach Solapur as soon as possible… almost after 4 km Anne said she can’t use any gear anymore… I asked her ‘so that means we can’t even restart?’… She said ‘yes impossible’… She asked me to check for nearby mechanic for help… I asked her to wait in the car and walked some distance to go check… there were hotels nearby I could see clearly but no mechanic shop so far… but I noticed the road is going downwards …
I went back to Anne and told her ‘we can’t find a mechanic here at this time, maybe we can go to the nearest hotel -called Tripurasundari- and ask them for help?… I may push the car… I’m very sure we will reach there’… Anne asked me ‘are you sure?’… ‘yes’ I said but ‘don’t use the break please…’ lol…
I started pushing the car and it moved easily down the road, I pushed till the hotel, I almost couldn’t speak anymore… lol… we both went to the reception and asked that guy we need help because we are stuck here, he said ‘I can arrange a mechanic tomorrow, tomorrow is a Ganesh Pooja it’s going to be hard to find a mechanic shop that is opened he said… I said  ‘yeah but you can find mechanic right?’ He said it’s fine but he can only arrange tomorrow morning… so I told him ‘ok, please make sure…’
Next day morning he contacted a few mechanics, they came and checked and they told us it will take 3 days… I was very clear in mentioning that we both don’t have 3 days… I said ‘ok fine, we will let you know’… all off a sudden we saw a woman at the reception desk, we tried talking to her and she said we better tried talking to the owner of the hotel… We were both happy… I told her ‘that would be a great help…’
In the afternoon we met the owner. He said he will call his mechanic and ask what’s the best thing to do… even that mechanic asked us the same time… The hotel owner found us a cab, we definitely had to reach a function, but for a nice price… we clearly told him we really need to go… He said ‘the car can stay here in the garage…’
So… we almost fixed all and decided to have lunch in the hotel. There we got a call from the same mechanic saying he may need more mr black_057 (Small)money for employee cost… I asked him ‘how come so suddenly you’re asking extra? Before you agreed on that price’… Anne freaked out ‘because of my skin color you want more?’ she asked… I told her to calm down…
He finally agreed to what he asked, Anne really get mad when –most of the time- Indians make the price goes up because of her skin color so I’m always telling her ‘next time I may paint you’… lol…
At last-after a day travel- we will reach Chennai… and of course we will be able to attend the engagement…

The End…

After 2 weeks passed we went back to Solapur to receive our car and there Anne bargained well too… really pretty well… we got back the car and Anne started driving… I asked Anne ‘so finally we goanna end the trip with the same car…?’
She said ‘yessss..!’
We reached back to Coimbatore at 11 PM the next day ,i think,…
For us, all the way we’ve been travelling is like a kind of rainbow… a ‘rainbow memory’… almost all colors we had…DSC_4611 (Small)
With the grace of God and so many good souls we reached back home safely… and of course I must say our car never let us down… He always tried his best to make sure we were safe… he never made us end up somewhere bad… Me and Anne always said like ‘what if the car would have broken down there?’… He never did… even when he broke down he did his best, not worst really…
The car almost became a part of us… so for next trip we’re having a lot of plans…
I don’t know for whom am writing… most of the time for me… This time it’s going to be published… maybe you may like it or maybe not… whatever it monkeyis… if you want to share your suggestions for our next trip or if you just want to explore and need help or want to share your experience… don’t forget you can always contact us through mail…
Thank you very much for spending your valuable time on reading…
Warm regards from Anne and Ram
